Why are they telling me about football games being cancelled? Surely that's not that important right now!
This.

Tbh...with whats going on in London...I'd expect a friendly match that was being hosted at Wembely to be cancelled....you can't morally police a game....when there are riots going on.
The prime minister will be making a live statement at 10.45, everyone can watch it on the above link.

heard that some guy whos 5 generations of family who has owened a shop, survived two worlds wars but got burnt by a bunch of rioters, how sad.
Bit the goverment doesnt seem to be doing anything about all of this.
That was the fire in Reeves Corner, Croydon. The Reeves family owned a furniture shop there (House of Reeves) since 1867!! It's because of that shop it was known as Reeves Corner. It was somewhat of a landmark in Croydon and now it just been destroyed. It's so sad, still can't really believe it.
Government thought "Hey let's cut the police budget and fire a bunch of officers."
Now
"Oh, ****, we need more officers."
Parliament will be recalled on Thursday.
It's ****ing tuesday today. What the hell? Does he think people are going to wait two days while he prepares his speech? We want something done NOW!

Yes. Because getting back 650 people who are spread throughout the country and, right now, throughout the world on holiday (and the Lewisham East MP is currently on her honeymoon) is an easy task. Especially when it is on no notice and most of these people are having to travel, arrange childcare, etc.
To be honest, recalling Parliament does not engender a sense of calm or security. It just makes people even more worked up and worried. It is something though, but I don't think he had much choice.
I don't think this has anything to do with cutting budgets for the police services or for community centres and the like. The people doing this are simply taking advantage of the situation. Yes there are underlying issues, and these grievances are being highlighted, but it is no excuse for their actions. I'd be willing to bet that most of those involved in this do not know who their local MP is, and I'd be willing to say that a lot of those who are old enough probably did not vote in the recent elections. I doubt this has much to do with politics at large.

Well, i went to work today same as normal, Peckham high street is closed off and theres a lot of police and stuf there, and then theres shops with smashed windows and stuff along the bus diversion.
I work on Tottenham court road.. it is very very quiet in town today.
Some of the riots spread out to the Bromley area last night from what I have heard, also some rumours of a Tesco's in Sidcup being set on fire (not sure if that is definitely true). It's shocking that people have done this, I would never think to do something like this. It wouldn't even enter my mind.
My cousin is in the Met and was wished 'Good luck' on his way to work today.
