I'm ginger and used to get ripped on as a kid for it. I don't care about the card. The only thing that I care about is that the joke was just poor, they could have thought of a much better one.
To be totally frank, I think a lot of people have a stick up their arse these days about pretty much everything. Lighten up.

I'm not a ginger but my sister is and I tease her a bit about it, she gets it, and understands taht it's a joke, a lot of my friends are ginger too and they don't see any harm done in harmless banter

they poke at me for my disability because I walk with a limp but it's all in fun, I know that they know that my disability frusterates me so they try to make light about it by joking about it.
people need to not take everything so seriously all the time.

People are individuals, with history that does actually include real traumatic long term abuse and bullying.
Try to consider that before judging people for living with the impact of that.

I'm not judging anyone. All I'm saying is that I think a lot of people are too up tight. Maybe I have thick skin and some kind of madly warped sense of humour or something, though.

I just think that everyone has had the mick taken out of them at some point, it's a natural part of life and it's healthy to be able to laugh at yourself. I think that people do sometimes need to just let things go.

sometimes it can be hard, or nigh on impossible to let these things go... it all depends on the person. Even things said in joke can hurt, or can remind a person of a time when they were hurt. It may seem a little silly to others, but seemingly small things can bring up/trigger these feelings that they felt in the past in many people.

the only reason I think this new article is odd (other than my stab at York earlier, but I do hate that ciy :P ) is that it ended up in the news at all... she cmplained, the shop removed the card, I don;t see why it went further...

I think maybe it depends who it comes from. My parents laugh at me and it doesn't bother me because I know it's in jest, but when bullies have laughed at me and called me names I couldn't laugh at myself because it hurt so much.

I think the intent behind it is what can cause pain, or what prevents pain.

many people who have been laughed at in a harmful way though may find it hard to then know if future laughing is harmful laughing or jest laughing so I guess it gets complex

I don't think people are trying to say that bullying IS okay, Katie. I think they're trying to say that they don't find the card to be bullying because they're taking it as a joke rather than something that was said to be abusive and hurtful to another person.

It's all how you take it. If you choose to not try to see the humor in something then that's your personal decision. But, for those that DO find things funny rather than offensive, I think it's unfair that something so mild is taken so seriously because one person complained.

I bet a ton more people took it as a joke rather than an insult, really. Yes, it was probably tactless, but it doesn't mean it was bad enough to be removed.

I just, I don't see it as bullying at all. Really, it's a generalized statement, not aimed at anyone in particular, just a comedy observation, that is made by people with the intention of it being funny, not offensive.

I'm sorry that you've clearly been through a lot, and I'm sorry if you find it offensive.

My point, however, remains that with generalised things like this, that are intended in jest and are, for me miles and miles away from even mild bullying, then I think people are becoming too sensitive and need to learn to laugh at themselves. I know that if I hadn't learned to laugh at myself I would be in a much worse place than I am now.

But the point is i have been bullied and i'm not gona be a victim my whole damn life! Loads of my mates have bought it. The other night one of them accidentally felt me up while drunk and started shouting 'arggh a ging'. I dont condone bullying but it WASNT bullying andd he didnt need that card to come up with it.

I've been stopped in the street by people i dont even know and given abuse for my hair and i dont get in a big tiz about it cos its their problem an di wont let randoms put me down. I dont see people stopping blondes and shouting comments. people might take things to the extreme but it doesnt mean we cant have a joke with anything. Am i wrong to be able to laugh at myself?

Just to clarify no one reads my posts cause they are usually too long. So I assume no one looked at the links I added: the evolution of hate and they just wanted to focus on Tescos. So I wrote something for you using the themes I am getting. It is based on a story of persons turning the other way until people attacked them- and by then there was no one left to stick up for them. Don't let it happen to us.

So they have red hair. They have to deal with some teasing, abuse. The media even suggests a day where we all get together and attack them. Stupid really. Just a bit of a joke- why is everyone being so oversensitive?

So they walk with a limp or a cane. They have to deal with some teasing, abuse. The media at one time even suggested that they be rounded up and put to death- sometimes before they are born. Stupid really. Just a bit of a joke- why is everyone being so oversensitive.

So they cut themselves. They have to deal with teasing and abuse and sometimes the basic challenges of the day is too much for them. The media always pokes fun at these crazies. And if you trigger them enough maybe they'll off themselves. Stupid really. Just a bit of a joke- why is everyone being so oversensitive?

Why? Because it ain't funny mate? Why because it hurts? Why- because zero tolerance is the only policy for bullying and cruel adults start with cruel children. Don't try to convince others that they are being oversensitive. Just admit that you don't feel as much: whether it is value for yourself or others.

wow, that was harsh.

what people feel is individual, and no-one can say if an individual is being oversensitive or not, because no-one knows how said other person feels. However, what we can say is that in OUR opinions, people have been oversensitive.

I just really think that to be so deeply offended by generalised statements is not a healthy thing, and that the ability to laugh at yourself is much healthier.

But no one is tellin kids to bully. I dont feel?? I do! I'm one of the most oversensitive people with everything Jesus christ this has been the week from hell i ask a simple godamn question and its my fault that everyone is getting bullied. ITS NOT ENCOURAGING BULLYING. All jokes make fun of someone. We cant stop making jokes and this card is not encouraging bullying. I was referring to THIS card not your videos so dont start telling me how or what i feel. You might not agree with the card. But it aint my fault i didnt bloody make it did i?
