Triggering (ED) - Prozac?

Firstly, I don't know if this is the right section so I'm sorry if it isn't! I went to see someone today and I'm being started on Prozac immediately (picking it up later) and then I have to see someone 2x a week but I was wondering if the meds will cause any weight gain? I'm absolutely terrified of taking them incase I get fatter, basically. Anyone got any experiences? Thanks

I didn't experience any weight gain while I was taking Prozac. If you look in the leaflet provided, or online, you'll see what the side effects are and if they include weight gain in some people. I hope you find them and seeing someone helpful. Take care.

That's a good start, I did ask and was told I shouldn't gain anything but I'd rather hear from people who've been on it. Thanks & ty for moving my thread too x

was on it for a very short time, and didn't gain any weight. and i doubt that i would since it sorta added to my jitteryness so i couldn't sit still. though don't worry about that either, cause i was already unable to sit still before taking it

I haven't gained any weight. However, I did have a really horrible first month on it. My SH intensified and I was generally a lot more miserable.

But now I feel a lot better... so that's a positive.

I never experianced weight gain, though I did get: nightmares, sickness, nosebleeds, and headaches as such I wasn't on them long before switching to a different med

everyone reacts differently to meds though, the sideeffects do not effect everyone so try not to panic too much about possible side effects as they are only possible not definate

hey, iv been on prozac and it didn't make me fatter, in fact its an antidepressent prescibed alot for bulimics as it helps stop impulsive behaviour e.g. binges. I found it leveled out my eating. Hope this helps, and hope you get on with it ok x

I didn't gain weight on it, and was told by my dr it's pretty unusual. So I wouldn't worry about it too much (I know it's not that easy!) Good luck, I hope it helps x

Most anti-depressants don't cause weight gain, and as said above Prozac is often given to bulimics.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. My memories I have of it are of feeling sick for 3 days to a week when I first went on it.

See I cannot feel this, not matter how you try and in the real world, there's no goodbyes.
