there are plenty of wild berries that are safe to eat if you know what they are. I took wilderness survival classes as a boy scout and know a bunch of things that are safe to eat, and things to run away from (or throw them at your enemies!)
But just about any berry you can eat, bugs can eat too. I remember just a few years ago picking wild sour cherries and eating them at the same time. when i got home, i had several pounds picked that i started pitting to make jam out of. about one in every three cherries i pitted had a maggot inside all nice and cozy. i had already eaten several hundred cherries, which makes scores of maggots i ate that day.

it really made me feel good about life.

I still made jam with the non maggoty cherries, it was pretty good.
