need advice and excuses...

I can't drink... christmas and new year usually involve alcohol, but I can't drink... my parents are not allowed to know why... (basically I go a little mad and paranoid and have flashbacks and all sorts)


I need an excuse to not drink...




also... I miss Jack (my boyfriend so much)... we live together, but at moment visiting our respective families... I won;t see him again until I go home on the 6th or 7th (he's going home on the 5th - i think)... I don't know what I want from this bit... but I miss him so much... I just want to see him, speak to him at least... getting texts from him... but I want to speak to him, tried ringing today but signal kept failing... just feel so lonely :(



but... the major thing is that I can't drink and can't think of descent excuse...

any ideas?

is drinking a big thing in your family at xmas? i mean if you politely decline will they notice?
can you say you dont like whatever it is they're drinking? or say you've been a bit under the weather lately and don't feel up to drinking?
or say you've got a bet on with a friend that you cant go all of december without drinking?

my family drinks ALOT... and my mum has bought in drink for me to make sure there's something I'll drink...
I reckon I can get away with one drink, so currently think of making that last as long as possible and hope that they don't notice... not sure it will work though...

Sorry that you've been missing your boyfriend <3 I can totally relate- my boyfriend and I pretty much live together and went home to our families for thanksgiving. Those four days really sucked.

As for the not drinking.. I can't really think of anything. Maybe say it's your new years resolution to be better to your body and that includes not drinking?

For the alcohol thing - you could say you took something for a headache, and can't mix it with alcohol. If you're away from home you could say that you have to drive.

Time until the 6th/7th will go by quickly. I'm sorry that you can't see him right now, though.

Could you not say you cutting down on drinking so much? And just always say no when you are offered?

thing is my parents get offended... they did last time I was here... I'm not sure why, they've never explained... but they do...
or they'll ask me "why?" and if i say "i just don't feel like drinking" or anything like that they'll give me one anyway or keep asking "why" until I say something... but the truth can't be told

got away with it so far... my boyfriend called and his advice was to go for a walk and hope that by time i got back they were in no state to notice if i was or was not drinking... and it worked pritty well.


just new year now... considering goin gout and staying at a friends to avoid the issues here

I havent been able to drink since July because of being on medication. My boyfriends family make a big thing about drink, and i just say i dont want too. That's it. No excuses. You just don't want too. Just go and grab yourself a coke. If people don't like it, it's their problem.

the main ones i could think of were medication/feeling ill

you could also tip any drinks down the sink when they're not looking!

I dont really drink at all but i usually just become designated driver so noone can force me!

For the alcohol think I usually just lie and say I feel ill
Or take it and leave it lying around somewhere so noone notices who's it is.

if there is any alchohol that can be mixed with soda always make your own drink and say you have jack and coke or something like that. feeling ill is good and going over a friends is a great idea :) good luck

and you will see him soon. why not write him a letter everyday so you have letters to give him when you see him. it may help cause you know he will like the gift when you see him
