Don't know what to do :(
Hey,
Well basically I'm in my second year of college and I really don't know if I can cope with it anymore. I went back to college for four weeks before the summer holidays after my exams and it basically nearly broke me. It was so difficult for me and My SI escalated as it was the only thing that I could do to cope with the stress. I really am so unhappy at college but I would feel like such a failure if I dropped out now :'( My parents would be so dissapointed with me.
I don't know what my other options are at the moment really. The only thing that makes me happy is being with my boyfriend but he lives 300 miles away from me and I don't think I cope with college without him. I really don't know what to do for the best.
Sorry if this is a pointless post. I just need some support and kind words or something I don't know. :(

what aspect of college is it that gets you stressed? also does anyone in the college (staff wise) know you're having difficulties? they are usually very good with that sort of thing
not sure what else I can suggest... maybe speak with a carrrers advicer type person and deside what you want to do long term? that way you'll have an aim which will either help motivate you through college or show you want other options are avaliable

Education can be really stressful, especially when you are away from loved ones. How did things go for you during your first year? Are there things you can draw on that helped you through and things that you might want to change? It's always difficult starting back after a holiday, you'll need some time to settle in again. Are there student counsellors at your college? It might help to speak to them, they might also be able to help you to get support like having more time to complete your coursework.
You wouldn't be a failure if you left, it's a very strong and important thing to be able to recognise when things are too much and put your health and wellbeing first. I'm sorry that your parents would be disappointed but please remember that this is about you, not them. Are you studying full time? If so, maybe you would be able to change that to part time. There also might be the option of taking a year out and going back to college after that. Try to think of the pros and cons of staying at college or leaving and work out what you feel is best for you.
I'm sorry that you're so far away from your boyfriend, is there any way that you can meet up with him maybe once a week or at least stay in touch regularly? Maybe you could 'use' him as a motivation to get through college: you could decide that if you complete your coursework you will meet up at the weekend if that is possible. Or think about how proud it would make him for you to get through college.
Whatever you decide to do I hope it's right for you. Please get in touch if you need anything. Take care.

oh baby :(. Most important thing is your happiness and your health. College was so unhealthy for you towards the end last year, and your struggling already this year :(. You need to know what career you want to take before you think about taking college any further, because if you finish college, leave and decide u dont want a job that involves any of your subjects you'll have put yourself through so much for nothing :(. You know im going to come down every few weeks and take my holidays around your holidays. Whatever you decide to do i will be here, always <3. You know you have options baby. If you leave college you can always get a job, you can move here, you dont have to leave college for good, can resit the year if you decide you want to go finish college when your a bit happier :). You'll be ok baby, no matter what you choose, just please dont make a decision that is based on making other people happy at your expense :(. I love you so much xxxxxxxxxx *hugs*

not really sure what advice to give as im in a simiar situation. im going back to college after quitting my alevels 3years ago.
in my honest opinion....although i felt like a failure for dropping out, it was the best decision i made. it gave me time to get my health back on track. in those 3years i have had a lot of hospital admissions which set me back from enrolling sooner.
im now going back to college to do a GCSE and a Computer course (both part time) instead of plnging myself back into the deep end.
i had to speak to the college about my issues etc and they were able to suggest this...so perhaps speaking to someone at the college would be an idea...find out what options you have and how they can assist you.
dont be giving up on yourself and feelng like you have failed...not trying is failing and you hve tried m'dear xx

Becca huni bunch, you said to me you would do voluntary work or something, if you feel thats the best decision for you go for it, dont worry about others I did that and you know where it got me. OK i have gone back and restarted but i wasted two years and for what? I love you huni please take care of yourself and do whats best for you, you know i willl be behind you one hundred and ten percent if its your choice and what YOU want to do.

I kinda understand your situation. Last monday I dropped out of sixth form after only one day because I couldn't cope (I'm recently out of hospital and it completely overwhelmed me). Despite my family being disappointed and me feeling like a failure I know it was the right choice to make because my health needs to improve first. So what I'm trying to say is you need to make a decision that feels right for you. If you really can't deal with it perhaps you could take a year out or go part-time? Education isn't going anywhere, it'll still be there when you feel better and you'll get the most out of it when you're ready and motivated.
*hugs* xoxo
