Experiment.
This is an experiment to see what variations of answers I get.
Quote: "The king lost the will to rule after his son's death."
Question: Why did the king lose the will to rule?
What's your answer?

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

Because his grief caused him to become depressed and therefore lose interest in things he usually was interested in, such as running the country. Look at how many years Queen Victoria spent isolating herself in mourning when her husband died.
Edit: Out of interest, what's your answer?

hmm... my first instinct would be "because his son is dead" but I feel I should be reading more into this lol. So I feel moe info is needed... i.e. what the the circumstances of the death? Was the son his only heir? etc. As the thread is titled "experiment" and as this is a quote from a book (i think) I am assuming the obvious answer is not the correct one

As well as losing interest in running the country due to mourning the death of his Son, I think he'd also lose interest as ever since the birth of his Son, he probably lived his life assuming his Son would take the throne upon his death. So when he died he may have lost his sense of purpose, and so lost interest in ruling as his Son isn't going to take the throne.

I would think; the king suffered severe emotional stress bought on by the death of his son.
As others have said; maybe more info is needed (if applicable) as not an easy question, but maybe question is designed to be brief ?? (as to test our initial reactions with only most basic given detail as part of an assesment) -
More info (if possible & applicable) , for example ;
1. In what circumstances did the kings son die & at what age? ,
2. How good/bad was their relationship & were there other sons/daughters that would be hier to throne, etc ?
