Aspergers testing

right, so for a while now people have been saying that i could possibly have Aspergers. my mum thinks i do too as she works with people who are autistic and who have aspergers.

well its got me curious now, i have been reading up about it and do meet most of the criteria for it.

basically i'm just wondering if anyone knows how to go about getting tested for it? or is it too late as im 22 now.

i know a few people on here are diagnosed with it, so it would help if i could have some advice if possible.

I'm 24 and am awaiting an assesment. After people telling me for yers that I have it I just kind of got annoyed and went to ask my GP for one. However, I am having to pay some money towards it

yeh, im probably thinking i'll have to go through my gp unless CMHT can help in any way. i'll have to enquire about that.

My dad paid for me to have a private assessment when I was 16 where I was officially diagnosed with Asperger's. But my psychiatrist and my dad knew for years before that I have AS. Although the private assessment was pretty expensive, there were no waiting lists. But I understand that the price would be a problem.

I found that things became a lot clearer in my mind once I was diagnosed with AS. I didn't seem to get as wounded up as i would before. I hope it has a positive affect on you all. Just remember you are what you are :)

I was diagnosed by camhs when i was 11 but i don't think you can ever get to old to be diagnosed. Though i have since been diagnosed with psychosis and borderline personality disorder

thanks for all of your replies.

i was diagnosed last year with BPD, however people have been saying for years that they think i could have aspergers. im just curious i think as i believe i haven't got BPD.

If you feel you don't have BPD, then you can get a second opinion.
