What do these abbreviations/words mean?

I hope no one minds me posting this. I've seen a few words and abbreviations around and I have no idea what they mean!

One of them was someone saying they have DID and another was someone saying PRN meds.

If anyone else has any to add, go ahead :)

PRN = pro re nata which means 'in the circumstance' i.e. medication you take as and when required.

DID = dissociative identity disorder. I'm definately no expert on that one but I'm sure someone can be more helpful :)

I always remember PRN as "prescribed really needed". Which makes sense, as an PRN medication is medication which you take you really need it, rather than every day. 3nicky1 is right about the correct meaning, as it is latin! (A lot of things that the doctors write are in latin.)

I was like, what the hell are TTAs?

Turns out it was medication To Take Away.

ermm...yeah im just going OTT (over the top - LOL) There are so many people who dont understand the abbreviations, i for one didnt know most of them for a long time! so people should add to this :) we should have an abbreviations thread :D

I always knew what PRN *meant* from the context it was used in hospital, but I never knew what it stood for. I actually asked one of the nurses once, and she mumbled that she didn't know. What an educational thread!
