Does anyone else think...

...that moving house is ridiculously stressful?!

So between uni resits and my job I have found myself conversing with TWO landlords (my current and my future), the tenants of the house I am moving in to, removal men, and banks/uni/companies etc (to change all my address information) as well as cleaning and packing....

I always forget how stressful it is to move house!!

*sigh*
If only I was still young enough to pretend that boxes are space rockets...

Yes :( I'm preparing to move. When I say preparing, I mean, starting to look around new flats. Then there's trying to work out if they'll take housing benefit, signing tenancy agreements, handing over bonds, getting guarantors, working with the estate agents, finding a removal service, packing, cleaning, moving, cleaning, unpacking, getting utilities sorted, telling everyone who knows you and many who don't about your change of address for post and then getting used to a scary new place!

Sorry for the rant :/

My parents are also moving to a few streets from where they are now, and my brother's moving to Brighton.

eugh, ye, moving sucks... 10 months ago I moved from Aberdeen to London, and next week I am moving from London to Newcastle.

address changing, GP changing, new area to get used to, all the money it costs, new people, new landlord, etc... changing address with the bank is always fun too, it NEVER seems to be straight forward

I am sure that I once read that moving home is within the 10 top most stressful events in a persons life

^ It's true. Also, uncertainty about 'home' location is similar. My docs are citing it as a main trigger for my 'breakdown'.

I find lists ease some of the stress, especially you're moving a lot like I was. Make a list of things to move, things to do, who you need to contact, and cross them off as you get them done. You get a sense of satisfaction each time and it helps keep you focused when things get hectic.

Moving house is supposed to be one of the most stressful things you can do in your life.
I've moved home three times in my life and and can say; yeah, it is.

I've moved house 12 times and yes it's pretty stressful, it'd probably be less stressful if I didn't procrastinate and leave all the packing until the night before though! Preparation and planning is the key to a less stressful move I think, rather than just winging it on the day like I usually do.

wow I wasnt expecting all these replies!! I was assuming lots of "shut up and deal with it" style comments....but its nice to know its not me being a pansy!!
So.....my current landlord is kicking us out a day early(due to a hidden clause in the contract which makes the original time/date of moving out obsolete (I think thats the right word)) AND the current tenants of my NEW house have decided that although we, they and the landlord had a VERBAL agreement that the handing over of the house would happen on the 30th (a day early), on second thoughts they (and I quote) "cant be bothered" so from 11am on the 30th of June, I will be homeless (even if it is just for 24 hours) with all my possessions in a removal van that I havent yet managed to book, but too far away to go to my mums house......all because some silly spoilt little girls "cant be bothered"
And I know I shouldnt make assumptions or judgements as I dont KNOW them personally....but they have no REASON (that they have voiced) to move out a day later than agreed and when I asked how we could come to a solution, she replied with "meh"....even when I pointed out I would technically be homeless....so I feel I'm allowed to be annoyed at her....right now....
