Stopping sertraline suddenly

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, sorry if it's not.

I've been off of sertraline (50mg) for about 4 days, and I'm wondering what effects that would cause. I don't plan on stopping completely. I just haven't been able to get a refill. I should be able to start again by tomorrow. I know it'd be easy to just Google what might happen but I'd rather hear first hand from people who have been on and stopped sertraline for some period of time. I may or may not be experiencing some side effects... I just don't know whether to attribute them to stress, being ill, or other medications I'm on.

I stopped 150mg suddenly and i cant remember the withdrawl so it cant have been that bad. You spoken to your dr about stopping?

I suddenly stopped (which is not to be recommended) but all I got was pins and needles, and numbness in my arms. It lasted 10 days. I had nausea, but that only lasted 2 days.

A lot of people get "electric shock" type feelings from SSRI's (which Sertraline is one) which apparently are horrible, and quite common. I personally didnt get that, but I hope you dont either.

I personally have never had this experience but I just wanted to say that its worth talking to your dr about this and trying to get a refill asap. Its not good to just come off them altogether as you are supposed to slowly decrease the dosage. Also if you need them to help you its important that you take them as prescribed. Hope that you manage to sort things out.

headaches that turned to migranes was what i got... i also get it if i miss a dose of my venlafaxine... it's not nice. i would suggest you speak to your doc if you want to stop the sertraline, i was on it for 2 years but took myself off it by taking it every other day then every 3 days... then kinda just stopped then,

If I ever missed a dose or if I stopped suddenly (did this recently) I DO get that "electric shock" feeling, which I cannot even describe. Mostly, it's discomfort, but I don't believe it's necessarily dangerous. I can't say for sure, though, but I haven't had anything worse than nausea, numbness, the electric shock, and some fatigue. Nothing worse than that for me! =]

I stopped while on 200mg suddenly as I couldn't get a GPs appointment to get a prescription and it was AWFUL!!! I couldn't feel my body, everything flet unreal, fthings felt disconnected and out of focus, if I turned my head quickly my eyes sort of couldn't keep up, it was like the fps of my eyes slowed down, I felt sick all the time, I couldn't face the idea of food, and I couldn't sleep... oh, and I got headaches, but I get headaches alot ayway so not sure if that way 100% connected...


basically it was NOT fun... and neither was the having to start again at 25mg and work my way back up though I feel that maybe the doctor was just being overly causious with doing that
