In what circumstances do organisations ask for an ehanced CRB?

In what situations will people ask for an enhanced CRB? Do universities do it?

Because my enhanced CRB is f*cked up. Not only do I have violence towards police officers and the public during section 136s, I also have cut my Mum's hand open with a knife (that was put on my enhanced CRB), and I have an incident that happened over a few months, which I'd rather not go into, but it was bad enough to go on my ehanced CRB and I'm not proud of it

I'm really worried that my uni will ask for an enhanced CRB

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

As far as I know, when it's for work with children and/or vulnerable adults.
Check on the CRB site, there's lots of info. there.

my enhanced CRB is messed up too... I've been told by the job centre to never apply for any jobs working with children or vulnerable adults as chances are I'd never get them due to my CRB . Not sure if unis do them though, maybe for certain degrees, not sure.

However, the times I have applied for such jobs they have given me a chance to explain the things away. Esspecially with sections, I only have two on there, but with one of them it clames that I assulated a police officer (I didnt ) but most employers have called me to get more information and given me a chance to essentially explain that I;m not dangerous nor really a criminal.

I have one thing (which would rather not go into publicly) on my CRB that does cause me trouble with employment and stuff, but that's not mental health or section related. theres also 'rehabilitation period’ thing, I can't rememberthe specifics, but if you google "rehabilitation offenders act 1974" you should be able to find out about it, basically its a time period after which crimes are classed as "spent"

CRB stuff factored into my deciding to leave uni... I wanteed to be a surgeon, but with my bakground it was unrealistic

From CRB website:

Quote:
Standard checks can be applied for by people entering certain professions, such as members of the legal and accountancy professions and applying for specified licences. A Standard check contains:

An Enhanced Disclosure is available to anyone who works in what is known as a “prescribed position “. These are the positions which are in the ROA and have also been named in Police Act Regulations. Regulated Activity with either Children or Vulnerable Adults, certain Judicial Appointments and Gambling Licence Applications are examples of prescribed positions.

Thanks guys. I will have a look at the CRB website

Shadow-light, I know what you mean about not wanting to go into too much information. I have somehting I really regret on my CRB

Yup, they have it nailed on the head. Work with vulnerable adults or children generally requires an enhanced CRB. Doctor, nurse, social worker, teacher, healthcare assistant, youth worker, physiotherapist, etc. Also things like police officers and if you want to open up a charity and run it. It can also be required if you want to go into fostering.

Certain university and college courses like social work and that teaching PGCE thing and childcare, health/social care, etc require enhanced CRB too. Unfortunately enhanced CRB's are the ones that ask for the 'extra relevent info' where you're at the mercy of ACPO's judgment. For every other job, though, it's a normal CRB
(all convictions/cautions/warnings/repimands) which is for things like accountancy/fraud roles in banking which my older bro had to go through to get his job in a big bank, and a basic Disclosure Scotland certificate which shows your unspent convictions, or they don't bother checking at all.

If you wanna work/move to USA/Australia/New Zealand/Canada, then you need an ACRO certificate, which prints relevent PNC details on a certificate, which decides if said country lets you in or not. But sectioning is never put on the PNC. Just local records.

If your degree is for the purpose of working with people then a CRB would be done, an enhanced CRB is for any course or profession that means you would be likely to come into contact with vulnerable adults or children, so nursing, social care, physiotherapy, councelling, psychology, teaching/education degree courses.

Thank you everyone. I will take this into consideration. I'm crap with people anyway so I can't see myself ever needing this
