Pathway to work interview

Hello,

Recently I've been claiming ESA and today I got a letter saying I need to attend a pathway to work interview and I don't really know what this means so I thought I'd ask here?

I also havent had a medical does that make a difference?

I have just finished mine. I had to have four ( I think you have four and then thats it till your benefits need reviewing) and I was really nervous about them but it turned out to be quite good actually. It is just about finding out if theres anything else they can do to help you on your way to going back to work. I wasn't pushed to go back to work before I was ready or anything they just asked lots of questions about help I was recieving and if there was anything else I felt I needed.
Don't worry too much about it. If theres any specific things you want to know you can pm me and I will try to remember what they did!

Is ESA like Job Seekers Allowance? if so, it's just as Miss Pixie says; seeing how they can help you some more find a job.

"John, being brave is going where no man has gone before and with Lizzy Stark, that is NOT what you'll be doing!" - Aunt Polly.

“I told him I was going to betray you, and betray Lyra, and he believed me because I was corrupt and full of wickedness; he looked so deep I felt sure he'd see the truth. But I lied too well. I was lying with every nerve and fiber and everything I'd ever done...I wanted him to find no good in me, and he didn't. There is none.”

Groovy - ESA is like a sickness benefit I think hence why I thought I had to have a medical first?

Also how do you know whether your on contribution or income based? The only part where it mentions it in my letter is right at the end where it says

'We call this contributory based and Income Related Employment and Support allowance'

I had one of these not long ago, it was about a wek after my medical.

To be honest I cannot remember anything about it all I know is that I came away with some leaflets on some CBT based programme that helps people get back into work and that I have to go see them again once the results of my medical are through.

here http://www.dwp.gov.uk/policy/welfare...hways-to-work/ and here http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/hcp-esa-update.pdf may have some more inforation for you about it
