is Twitter any good?

I'm thinking of joining Twitter!

Any good?
Or not?
What's your experience?

I go through stages of loving it then finding it boring. I use it to follow celebrities, more than anything. I can never think of anything interesting to say.

It's useful here and there. I follow some people who don't post much more than what they already post on Facebook. I find it useful for following some organizations that conduct events etc (and they too usually have a facebook). When it's been most interesting is when breaking news comes through Twitter. I followed Iranians posting from Iran last spring. When an airplane went down near me in the Hudson River the first pics showed up on Twitter.

It's free so you may as well get one - just don't expect too much. There are also a lot of spammers on Twitter and they will seek to join your Twitter.

I followed #ashtag last week, with all the volcano stuff, which is what sparked my interest. Not that is why I am thinking of using it, but the social communicative concept of it just sort of appealed.

I think its the most pointless thing ever, people post ever 5 mins with just random crap like "oh im going to the bathroom brb"

It's useful for some things. I only really use it as an extension of my websites and blogs, not sure how someone would use if socially as sometimes it can be hard to keep up with what's going on on there

you could always give it a go for a week or so and see what you think

It's so over-rated and boring. Just like Facebook status updates, but Facebook is a lot more fun with games and chat and all that =]
