Psycosis and ghosts...

Ok so i suffer from psycosis and see a guy whom nobody else can see. Now I know this is a very long shot but i was thinking the other day maybe it's NOT ME...maybe he is a GHOST!!??

I know this may sound rediculous but it makes sense to me and it seems like this guy (shadow is his name) might have 'unfinished business'.

So my question is how can i get rid of him or am i just having warped thoughts linked to my psycosis??!!

Man i feel confused right now and to be honest i just want this guy to go away.

Just somebody out there pls tell me that im NOT going crazy and there is a slight chance he's a ghost.

I experience something similar, and I refer to them as shadows. I see them whenever there is darkness, i.e. at night or in corridors with poor lighting. They take the appearance of being human, most of the time they just go about their own business or watch me but some of them interact 'talk' to me via thought insertion, I guess to the lay person it's easier to describe it as operating on another channel that is not open or perceptable to other humans.

My GP, previous CPN, family, etc are all convinced that it is simply a part of psychosis. Myself? I'm unsure as to what it is. They don't bother me per say, if anything they're interesting. It's what they tell me that bothers me because it contradicts what others tell me.

Do you take any medications for your psychosis? If this ghost experience lessens with medication then it's safe to say that it is indeed just a part of your psychosis.

Ok, I've been diagnosed with schizophrenia so I might be talking a load of crap here, but who's to say its not a ghost?
Have you considered talking to a psychic or medium about it?
Although I've been told that spirits usually leave you alone if you don't want to see them, so maybe try explaining to him that he's scaring you and you want him to go away?

I wouldn't advise seeing a psychic or medium, or at least if you do then do a LOT of background on them as there are a lot of frauds out there who could manipulate and maybe cause harm to you.

What does this shadow do? Does it speak or anything? Does it seem to be triggered by anything (i.e. emotions, events, whatever)?

I take medication for this but it doesnt work. I told my MH worker and they are going to increase my meds to try and get rid of him.

I have noticed that shadow appears mainly when im stressed or upset. Sometimes he is nice to be and sometimes he can be violent and swear and stuff which is really upsetting (hence why i wanna get rid of him).

I dont wanna go to a psycik as I'm a Christian but i'm considering going to a proffesional hypnostist. Do you think that might help?

If he mostly appears when you are stressed, upset or tired, there is a good chance this is an element of psychosis - As those are classic times for psychosis to manifest, or get worse.

I have ask very similar questions in the past. The problem I found was people split into two groups, those like your psych who will say it is psychosis, and the mediums and 'believers' who will swear blind it is a ghost regardless of meds or the 'whens'.

I would discuss this again with your medical team, maybe see if they are willing to do some hypnotherapy with you - so that you know it is safe and you are not going to see someone that may be a fraud - and see if there is something that can be done. It may be that there is a reason he is acting out when you are stressed, such as say if you are repressing those feelings?

*hugs* sorry if this makes no sense, but my understanding of ghosts is that they will appear regardless of your own mood and they have a reason of their own, which they either do or do not communicate. This one, sounds very linked into how you are feeling and this is why I think it is more likely to be the psychosis.

I dont understand how hypnotherapy will help if it is indeed a ghost you are seeing?

If you are a christian and you believe it is a ghost then you need to talk to a minister/priest/reverend about it and see if they can help you get rid of it. Go to someone you trust.

However I'm not really sure I believe in ghosts and things so I'm kind of skeptical and would be more inclined to believe it is part of psychosis.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Control freak I still do not know if it IS indeed a ghost I guess thats what im questioning here.
But i'm willing to treat shadow (the ghost) as a trate of psycosis for the moment and maybe hypnotherapy will work for me or increasing my meds might work - who knows?
I knew it was a long shot that he might be a ghost but i just wondered if it might be true. Perhaps a ghost seems easier to deal with than an hallucination or imaginary person.

Yeah I'm fairly confident that it's a product of your mind rather than some external entity.

I don't believe in ghosts per se, or anything "supernatural". I'm a materialist and a skeptic.

Although that which is indeed natural might appear to be supernatural to one who simply lacks a complete understanding of how the natural world works. And we are all in that boat to a greater or lesser degree. So there's always room for skepticism, but when it comes down to it we have to make certain assumptions in order to get anything done.

Accordingly I choose to believe that my scientific understanding of the world is fundamentally accurate, and that there aren't any sort of shenanigans being pulled on you by some incredibly advanced being with extensive control over physical reality. And so I assume its a hallucination.
