Zoning Out?
I have a huge problem with zoning out. Not just the usual daydreaming, but whenever I'm not keeping myself busy, I just disconnect from everything.
I'm just wondering if this is connected to something.
If it helps, I also have anxiety pretty much every second that I'm awake, and depression. But mostly anxiety.
Thanks.

I reckon it's definately connected to the anxiety. Probably a coping mechanism. I used to suffer from derealisation when I was stressed/anxious.
Are you seeing a doctor/psychiatrist about it?
|
Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

No. I'm not seeing a therapist about it. I don't have a therapist. I guess that makes sense.

Have you thought about getting yourself a therapist, or a counselor even? I didn't have one until mid-January, but they definitely help clear your mind a bit.
Have you been diagnosed with depression and/or anxiety? If not, have you talked to your doctor about it?
I zone out sometimes too. Depends what I'm doing. Definitely sounds like it's a coping mechanism for the anxiety.

If someone ever says to you "You need to stop thinking so much," call them ignorant in your head and keep thinking deeper. It is this mentality that breeds stupidity and sheeple. Your mind is the most important tool you have. If you stop using it, it will atrophy.
Question everything.

I went to the counseler a few years ago about depression, and all she told me was she knew I had a lot of anxiety (just after about half an hour). Then she told my parents. That's as close as I've gotten to a diagnosis.
My parents didn't believe me then, didn't believe me the second time, and now they're just in denial. So I've stopped trying to explain it to them.

sounds a little dissociationy to me, which can be triggered by anxiety.
is there anyway that you could see someone about it?

You have to go talk to a counsellor, I got myself one for my depression
My parents are in denial, but now I just don't care, I know there's something wrong with me and that it needs to be fixed.
I zone out all the time, it is a coping mechanism because I have bad anxiety too.
You should definitely get some professional help, I think.
PM me if you need anything

I know what it's like to disconnect/zone out whilst depressed or suffering from anxiety. On the bright side, sometimes it can be a good thing to zone out from time to time. In my opinion, it can keep you from having depressing thoughts.
Like others here have said, it's a coping mechanism. Don't be discouraged though, everyone is here to help. :3

We are, we all know what you're going through.
Zoning out lets us escape from out problems, if only for a short time, so we don't get overwhelmed.
