whoa i fogot about that, hasnt been around for a long while.
You can always go in, the first room is empty 80% of the time and then when you go to change room it tells you how many people are in each room.

Just wondering if there is there anything that isn't currently happening in chat that you would like to see happening? or is there anything that you think is going really well at the moment? Please let us know :)

p.s. I'm back :P

Hmmm. I'm hardly ever on chat this time of day, and I haven't been particularly active in a while, but it would be nice if the chat mods hung out in the serious room more often. I know you check in there from time to time, but it seems a tad un-necessary to have, let's say, three mods in the general room and then none in serious even if the members are evenly distributed across the rooms. It would make chat run a bit more smoothly if members didn't have to "fetch" a mod to come and settle a disagreement that has gotten out of control in the serious rooms, especially as these are the ones in which arguments seem to occur most frequently.

Ive started going in chat alot more lately, and I haven't had any problems. Although I've been on this site for 5 or so year, I'm still a newbie to chat, but everyone has been lovely and friendly, and it's been fun! (:

Haha ^ (:
I don't know why it scares me. xD
I feel like I might be shouted at or something if I get 'involed' when other people are chatting :P
I don't mind though :)

I've not really seen that happen before but I know that a lot of people have been apprehensive about using the chat rooms. My advice is just go for it, nobody is going to tell you off for getting involved :) x

We did try a room the other way round for Veterans to chat in but it never worked out really. Shame, it was a good idea. We tried, we failed! The way the rooms have been set up at the moment is something that was discussed about for quite a while giving more structure and guidance to them.

Nooooooooooo

I veto the veteran's chat idea. I LIKE talking to you oldies! I think that the rooms are fine as they are!

I kind of like the idea of a littles room... Mainly as so many people either do not believe DID exists and so don't believe littles exist and then if litles do "come out" then they essentially get attacked for their lack of spelling ability or the spelling is just commented on and insulted anyway regardless of belief...

However, I don't think there are enough of us effected by this to justafy a room

I dont think a 'littles' room would be at all viable. It would be impossible to moderate and people would end up getting kicked etc and then getting really upset about it. I dont think we can have a chat room where the normal rules dont apply (ie the spelling rule) because people would abuse it.

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.

Personally I really don't think RYL is the right kind of environment for child "alters". The very nature of the site means it contains some kind of conversations completely not suitable for children. Also, could the alters be relied on to stick to their rooms? Because I know most young children wouldn't. There have also been instances on RYL where people have faked alters, either to bully people or wind them up or as an excuse for bad behaviour in that chat rooms. Now I must stress that I know some people genuinely do have alters, so I certainly am not saying that DID doesn't exist, however I feel that a chatroom for that purpose would unfortunately encourage some people to act up and pretend and that would be an absolute nightmare to mod, it also really isn't fair on those of you that do have DID when people are basically parodying your illness and it isn't fair on the members who try their hardest to stick to the rules without coming up with a story to try and circumvent them.

Ive started using chat quite a bit, but im already really put off. I only use rooms 3 and 4 and it just seems like a competion for who is the worst, and i think its unacceptable for people to post comments like "brb im going to cut, or no ones talking to me im going to go kill myself" just to get attention. Ive been sworn at numerous times for giving support, and some people seem to hang about only to cause trouble.

Someone did use the excuse "there is no mod in here im going to do what i want and say what i want, im going to spam and be abusive" last night, so i do think mods being in all rooms might be a good idea, although i get that they just want to talk to thier friends.

I do think there has to be more rules in place, and im not even sure of the chat rules myself, and as much as i like chat, its getting impossible to help people with the constant stream of attention seeking and liars.

The chat rules aren't hard to get a hold of seeing as they are under the same button at the top you use to get to the chat rooms.

We do try to moderate all rooms but we rely on members when we are not about to send us a log of what has happened. That behaviour is not acceptable and we can do something about it if we have the logs.

I can't emphasise the importance of sending chat logs in though. Unless we actually receive the evidence we can't really say anything to anyone about it other than keep an eye on it.

OKay, this is kind off topic, but I really miss how when you entered a room the last five or so things that were said before you entered came up on the screen. It made it way easier to figure out what was going on and to get into the conversation. I also miss the icon that told you when other people were typing things.
