My library is open 6am until 2am every day of the year. Apart from a couple of days of Christmas and New Year. The two unions also have twenty four hour libraries and study rooms.

I really dislike Marx. Foucault is complicated for my little brain. And geography covers waaaay too much!

Spoons, you've paid for your tickets already? I haven't even heard anything about my graduation yet - not even what month it's in! Means I can delay thinking about reality for a little bit though.

So I'm in my room trying to study and my roommate decided to play Bop-It. Yes, I know. At the same time where the people next door are playing rock band with the bass turned wayyyyyy up.

And I could go to the library but it's cold and sleeting and generally icky outside, plus I have a cold.

That is true. At least I'm safe from the big scary world here at university (well sort of). Plus I'm scared of finding a job in the economy.

It's just all of this work is insane.

Haha there are so many procrastinators at university. Also my major (journalism) is full of them. I'm procrastinating now!

I don't get this whole "safe from the real world in uni" thing... people here say it too...

but post-uni al that I can think of that will change is council tax and full-time job...

The thing is, where I'm from, it's fairly common that the student isn't worrying about most money stuff while in university. It's generally paid for by parents/ scholarships/ loans... and the loans aren't paid off for a couple of years. I'm in student housing, and we get (crappy) dorm food provided. I have my internship job, but it's unpaid. I don't have lots of free time or anything, but I am mostly provided for. So it's sort of like being on your own, since I'm over a thousand miles away from my hometown... but at the same time I'm in my little bubble and can go for days at a time without leaving the university district.

When I get out of the university, I'll have to find a full-time job in my field during the economic crisis... decide if I want to live here (with a lack of jobs) or at home with insane rent... and all that fun stuff. I'll be almost like a real person when I'm out of school.

hmm... well I have rent already... and bills, housework, cooking... etc...
I don't have a job, but been hunting for over a year so that's not exactly from choice... in fact worked out that i'd be better off not a student as would be on benefits...

parents don't pay for anything... and my loan doesn't even cover rent...

I rent a flat privately with my boyfriend, etc...

so other than full time work and council tax I really can't see much different

Yeah that doesn't sound like fun at all. I guess that it's different for different people.

Your loan doesn't cover rent? Most of the ones here cover rent/ tuition.

I don't even know what a council tax is. We have sales tax, income tax and property taxes mostly. I just don't have to worry about property, since I obviously don't have any at the moment.

I guess it would be similar to property tax (guessing from the name). students though are exempt, if not I'd be paying like £1000 a year...

loans cover halls and uni accommodation, but as I rent privately it's more expensive...
