I have a quick question... Firstly I'm still not sure what's going on with me and my "parts", last week the psychologist did mention DID but then also said that as I was "too old" at the time of trauma she wasn't sure if it could be that.... so currently down as DDNOS and getting sent to another psych for yet another assessemnt in 2 weeks

but anyway, queston; do you think it's possible for different "parts" to have different psychological problems?

shadowlight - most definitely.
We have parts who have different psychological issues and medical conditions and allergies.
It is definetely possible )and probably common) it's mentioned/discussed in psychiatric literature.

We hope the assessment in two weeks goes well, sucks that there will be yet another person to explain stuff too, but it'll probably be very much worth the effort.

wow, having different allergies sounds complicated.

I'm glad that it is not unheard of to have different aliments, was starting to wonder if I was just imagining things or making things up to try to make it all fit... but if they can have seperate "issues" then that does explain alot.

thanks

Uh huh. For example Katrina's completely Anti-Social. I'm not.
Although for me there's*just* the 2 of us, which is slightly less complex, it is indeed possible.

ok I have another question... sorry for all the questions, just trying to sort it all in my head lol

How do you deal with on the "their" problems if it's being detrementral to the body as a whole? I mean they can't have therapy in their own right can they?

...It's just...
I've been trying and trying to keep it all together,
I've been distracting, using mindfulness and grounding, but none of the memories/flashbacks/physical stuff is stopping.... I can keep them at bay sometimes, so they don't overwhelm me, but it's getting harder and harder.

I'm feeling switchy - and it isn't a comfortable sort. I don't know who is hovering around the surface, but they feel terribly scary. I'm feeling really unsafe...

grounding cn be hard at times... feel like a constant battle, but you have to keep at it, eventually it will plateau and start to get easier

We are using and practicing grounding/mindfulness so much - (we rule at it now!) - that for the most part it is very effective, except those very high distress times. But we've found that we spend so much effort working at keeping ourselves stable and grounded that we are unbelievably exhausted mentally.

I've had enough. I'm so tired of fighting for everything. Fighting to stay present, fighting to keep safe, fighting to be motivated.
This isn't 'life'
Internally things are so hectic, more fighting and struggling there - for control, to be heard, to get their way, about rules etc...

It feels like it doesn't end, it feels like... like I'm at the end of the rope.

Labyrinth,
Thank you very much *huggles*
You've got enough going on as it is!
We see no possible way not eating is going to help, why do you want to stop eating?

First day of uni and we're all really tired.. thank god I'm (relatively) organised with timetabling and such, but there seems to be a trigger somewhere .. I lost about 20 minutes of a social psych lecture and I'm not entirely sure why. Things are restless inside, Xander's not saying a word to me and I'm worried I've done something wrong...

*offers hugs to everyone* We understand how tiring it is just trying to keep stable sometimes. Hoping everyone is safe.

feel like its all sort of coming to an end..... everythings got out of hand and theres nothing i can do!! we ran away to a friends house on thursday and mum came and forced me to leave today. she was crying because she thinks shes been a failed mother and that i dont love her and i didnt/ couldnt say anything to comfort her. i just sat there. its like im no longer capable of fighting the most basic easy battles... i sat there and let her be upset even though all she wanted to hear was ''sorry i love you'

Maybe there was a reason you couldn't say you love her. I could be totally wrong, but perhaps you've felt like, as your mum, she really should have been protecting you more from the terrible things you've had to go through. It doesn't mean you don't love her (or maybe it does - that's okay too) but just made it too hard to say because you felt angry and hurt and abandoned. Maybe you could write a letter to her about how you feel, even if you don't want to give it to her?

i think those are both good ideas ^ do you think you will do it bobby? may be helpful..

ive been feeling terrible recently. felt really out of sorts. bad memories are making me act bad and annoying everyone around me. theyre sick of me. i sat infront of a pile of tablets lastnight for a long time. im scared of myself. im getting closer and closer to killing myself. first it was just the thoughts, then it was the plan, then the revised plan, then actually opening all the tablets out. theres only one thing after that. actually carrying out the plan.

i just want to sink into an abyss.

a peaceful serene abyss.

ive been dissociating alot recently... i dont even really know what im saying half the time.

scath,
How is it going with Xander now?
Sorry things are chaotic in the system, do you have any clues as to why?
Perhaps the stress associated with starting the UNI term is influencing the chaos?

bobbiwib,

Have you spoken with your mum?
Do you think it was that you were so upset that you couldn't tell her how you felt, or was it more of what whirlpools suggested?
We hope you are ok..

Headrush,
It sounds like you are in a dangerous place at the moment, and we are sending you positive vibes and our care.
Does anyone know what is going on for you? We think it's really really important that if you are feeling suicidal that someone knows how bad you are feeling. Do you see a psych or a therapist? If you do, please communicate to them what is going on for you.
We're very concerned for your safety..

We're struggling more and more.
We got one hours sleep the night before last, 4 the night before, and last night we were stuck in a half awake half asleep paralysis.
Which was terrifying as well as exhausting, we know that at least one part (unfortunately one we aren't familiar with) is actively suicidal.

We switched on the night of an hours sleep and came back to find a website with instructional suicides, experiences, directions, dosages - it was incredibly frightening as you can imagine. We checked all our medications and they were where we left them, even so we moved them to a few different places.

Our front man is feeling shocking and we're trying to help as much as we can - but with these memories continuing to bombard us all, we're all taking on some of the effects and comforting the younger ones who can't cope with the influx of terrifying emotions and imagery.
We're really at a loss and running out of resources, we're spending all our time and energy in crisis mode and damage control.

We're seeing T in 15 minutes, but don't know what she can do to help us. Except for listening to us we don't know that there is anything she can do.
We're pretty sure she's ran out of suggestions - we're already implementing distress tolerance, mindfulness/grounding pretty much 24/7 - and it helps to a point - but we're all feeling so run down, and even those of us that are not prone to depression are feeling it's pull.
Barely anything feels worth it anymore..
We're feeling like it would be so much simpler to just let go, quit fighting and... well you know.

We'd been really stressed about telling our roommates that we were moving out, and we FINALLY got that out of the way - we thought it would lift some of the weight off our shoulders - but we're feeling as shitty as we were before.

We have no idea what to do, knowing that we have the capacity to end it all is the only thing giving us some reprieve...
oh dear...

thanks guys :) i talked to her a bit in a very light hearted way, just saying sorry and that i hadnt meant to hurt her. i think it made her feel a little better
i think maybe i do resent her a little bit but i shouldnt, i dont have any right to, because i spent so long lying to her and tricking her to stop her ever finding out about anything thats happened to me.

margaret, are you getting any help any time soon? i read your post where you said you'd had to go to the hospital... that may help you get care faster so even though they said you were fine it was not at all a wasted trip!

lostboys, i'm sorry for what happened! :( do you know anything about this suicidal part, its age for example?

is it just you, or the main alters, who talk to your T? it might be helpful for all of them to have a chance to talk about their feelings and their worries, and it may even encourage parts that you know nothing about to talk x

You're in our thoughts, wishing for some peace for you.

Xander's talking to me again so I guess that's something... There's a trigger at uni for one of the littles, Xander's saying that it's the dog that's in lectures (there's a blind person) god knows why it triggers us but it's hard to focus on the lecturer while there's a lot of anxiety insystem and I have to do grounding just to stay present. Thinking of asking the uni for help... maybe wit ha dictaphone or something so I don't miss too much, but I don't know how to go about it...

Counselling has been off for 2 weeks now, no idea when we can go back, and it's slowly wearing away at us. There's a lockdown in talking, we're not supposed to ever say what happened, and we've been breaking that rule andthings aren't good. Keep getting major urges to punish ourselves.

Child alters and anti-depressants.
Even when the adult body takes the medication, can it still effect the child alter adversely?
My medication is contra-indicated for children. And yeah.

as it's an adult body it will be fine. the main reason some meds cannot be used on children are due to them being smaller and some rgans not being fully developed. so the age of alters shuld not afect the meds, it' the age f the body that's the consideration

scath, I got a dictaphone really easily at college. I was dyspraxic and so I had to go for a meeting and then I mentioned that I get very anxious and they gave me one straight away. It was especially useful the next year when Charlie kept coming up a lot :)
