Decision: meds change. UPDATE I HAVE NEW MEDS. - Page 3

I went to bed at 6am and woke up at 8am lol.

But on the other hand, I went to the appointment today and I've been taken off the Clozapine completely. I've been told to go for the weekend with no meds except Haloperidol to help me sleep. Then on Monday I start on a low dose of Amisulpride and work up to a therapeutic dose.

My psych said that Amisulpride is a good drug for me as it acts on different dopamine receptors (Amisulpride: D2 receptors, Clozapine: D1, D4 and D6 receptors) to the Clozapine so if the Clozapine didn't work, the Amisulpride should work. It is also a lot less sedating and doesn't affect hunger that much =] although it carries a high risk of raising prolactin levels leading to amenorrhoea and lactation...but anyway I'll be ok.

I'm relieved although I will be having a lot of Voices/visions/paranoia problems for at least a month to come because I won't be on a therapeutic dose straightaway - I have to work up. So its going to be hard but I'm ready to fight.

I'm so glad you got it sorted and I hope the amisulpiride works out well for you. You are so strong fighting this and I hope the weekend goes ok for you with just the haloperidol xxx

Thanks dark light. I will take my Haloperidol at 11pm and see what happens. Its going to be hard and I think I will have to neglect studying for a while.

Well done you for getting this sorted, I hope the new med starts to work for you quickly, im sure we will all be here for you should you need a shoulder to lean on, tc you shaz.

Do you mind if i ask what dose haloperidol your on?
Does that not help ease the voices as well?

Its ok. I'm on 5mg PRN. It helps when things get really bad and when I can't sleep.

I took my first dose of Amisulpride today. Only 100mg, low dose to start out with. Will get to 300mg by the end of this week but in the past I've gone up to 750mg so I expect to go up to that.

Obviously not feeling any side effects atm as the dose is too low.

The Voices are really bad and the Mindreaders and Men In Suits are following me and reading my mind, altering my thoughts and trying to Kill me. Its all quite terrifying.
