How's it going with the washing machine, Hazel? It's always the heating systems in new places that boggle my brain!

I'm hoping I'll be more myself today. But it's delicate.

Well that shits on "DID isnt a valid diagnosis in the UK" stupid cow.

*steps off soapbox*

thanks for letting me hang around.

Shadow-light: I have come back to a new bedsit with my gf with shared kitchen & stuff too. I hate it. Makes me feel so unsafe. the kids don't really like it either so that makes it even worse!! At least you're by Tesco & the Tubes!!

Those of you with DID in the UK: have you had therapy? where did you get it? were they ok with your DID?

Sorry if that's nosey, but I was told that DID isnt valid in the UK (I was diagnosed in the Caribbean) & so they've just ignored the others. Not that I mind, I mean they're not the issue but it still annoys me.

Figured out the washing machine in the end, which is great as it means that I finally have clean clothes lol. Though now I'm scared to go for a shower as it's a shared one and I feel that the other people might need it

ever since DID was mentioned, in fact ever since DDNOS appeared on my file (i.e. before it was updated/changed to DID) psychs seem to average 3 months with me before referal usually with the reasoning that they do not feel that they are familar enough with dissociation. Also had 2 psychs who were actually really nasty about it all

There is a company called The Pottergate Centre who deal specifically with Dissociation and Trauma and if you email them they will help with finding a therapist who is familiar with dissociative disorders: http://www.dissociation.co.uk/index.asp

I've been struggling with dissociation and flashbacks, last night I had the most vivid flashback - it felt like it was happening there and then and my body was responding urgh It was so painful.

My partner (Jocelyn) is fighting for me to get treatment for 'my DID' but I feel like i don't want it. I don't want to accept I have others anymore. I don't want them there. My counsellor says they are around because they helped me survive horrific things but i'm not going through horrific things anymore so why won't they go. Why must it stick around to haunt me?

Sorry for the pathetic ramble. I'm just tired and frustrated.
Much love, Emma x

I thik that's the problem with most things caused be trauma/abuse, we addapt to survive but the adaptations stay with us long after the danger has past. During the abuse/trauma the adaptations help us, they keep us alive, but when the danger is no longer there the adaptaions can begin to impact on our ability to have a "normal" life. But I think it just takes longer to adapt to a "safe" worl than it does to a dangerous one

I agree with this. Was going to say something similar.

I know you don't want to accept it, but I honestly believe it will help you. Have you tried talking to the others? My system is actually pretty stable & we all get on ok. That's helped so much. I still dissociate etc, but I also have BPD so I have other issues, but communicating with & being able to stabilize your relationship with the others really does help you control your life & your reactions.

Sorry if that sounded patronising, I dont mean it to.

At the moment, my Pysch (can't spell today) hasn't made a dx, he's just done 'first impression' but i'm being handled as DDNOS - basically because the amnesia isn't/wasn't present. I don't know how it's going to end up because now the whole thing is developing i'm finding days where i dont have co-conciousness. anyway - i'm straying - I've found a good therapist via my local CMHT, he came recommended as good with Dissociative Disorders, although he has had a little experience so hopefully things'll be good, and my CPN/care co-ordinator is fab.

They'd be best to seek immediate professional crisis help.

do you have any idea where the urges/whatever are cming from? Mabe if you knew the source they would be easier to deal with.

D you know what sucks about england? Back in scotland due to lisencing laws off-lisences/shops/ct stop seelling alcohol at 10, here they can sell it whenever they want. So there I only had to ignore the "urge" (for want of a better word) until 10, here it's 24/7.
So this evening I went to the cinema with Jack (scot pilgrim is a great film by the way) thenn on the way home I picked up some bottles and now sat drinking them

on a brighter note gone 2 days without caffine. Which isn't fun, headache, aching, feels like the flu sort of. But maybe I'm yo-yoing, alcohol - caffine - alcohol. Or something. OK this has nothing to do with dissociation, will shut up now

.. currently wondering "who" this fierce maternal tigress type person in me is. Aspects of Katrina. But. It's not quite 'me' either.
Reaction against emotional 'penetration', yes. But also more than that.
Split off/denied maternal instinct?
Can I redirect it to taking proper care of me and loving all beings?

We're all very worried at the moment, my future has become very unstable in the space of a few hours...
Due to depression getting a hold of me, and only letting go after my exams, I didn't do well in them... I only got one pass, which wasn't even very high, which means I cannot continue them at my year. I spoke to a few people at my college, they said there is no guarantee that I will get back into my college, so I may be kicked out. It's really late to apply to any other colleges, so I'm resorting to either getting an apprenticeship or a job... But both are in short supply, so I may not find either.

I'm really worried, Ayka and Onyx have been taunting me since this morning that I'm not good enough and the fact that I may be kicked out gives them reason to say this, I'm scared someone will SI...
