Sorry, I wish I had something useful to say. End of March seems ages a way, I know but it will come round sooner than you think and if you need to see someone before this you need to somehow be firm and make sure you keep on at your dr though.

hey there,
i don't have much practical advise but i want you to know that i'm thinking of you. i have problems with studying and can't hold jobs because of my mental health issues too.
maybe you should demand assistance from uni, not let them hide under red tape. can you see a doctor and get a diagnosis? what about assistance from the gov't? if you can't afford the basic needs you should be entitled to some sort of financial support. go in there and be firm and demand assistance. that's why they get money from everyone's taxes in the first place, to assist those less fortunate.
i'm sorry if this isn't really helpful

I've been to the CAB about 20 times... they keep telling me that as I'm a student I can't get any support...
however, at uni there is a guy who's on benefits and got a council house despite being a student.... so maybe there is some way round it that they are not telling me... I may asking him next time I see him

He probably doesn't have a student loan, or is a benefit theif. There's not really much you can do to get around it, I tried when I left uni.

I may ask anyway as I'm curious now lol
there is another girl I have been told about (by student support) who has managed to get onto incapacity benefit...
thing I don't get is, how do they expect you to live on £3000 a year??? really?

I've had my account frozen in the past, I was a student then as well. But the reason was very long winded and boring and it got sorted in the end. Can you go and see them about it? Ask them why they have frozen it in writing and explain that there is money in it currently? I'm assuming by that you mean you are not in an overdraft - I had mine frozen last summer cos I was near my limit and they refused to extend it, I'm not going into how I got out of it but I did.
The benefits thing, if you are a very part-time student (e.g. studying less than half a full time course a year) and are recieving income support and incapacity you can get help with things like housing. However, the new replacement for incapacity benefit (you can;t apply for it anymore) which is called employment support allowance the rules are totally different and I don't think it's possible to do it.
Er there might be something useful in there somewhere!

I had it frozen once before... but that's because my rent tried to go out when there was no money in there... this time there is money in there...
I've called them and they told me that as there is not money going in once a month they are going to keep freezing it... so basically what they are saying is "get a job"...
thinking of changing to a new ank, this one keeps doing stuff like this...
I'm a full time student... so guessing getting a job is my only option...
thing is (and this is embarrassing to admit) not sure I can get a job... not sure I can cope with it, struggling with uni enough right now without working on top of it...

Hmm I think I know what your problem is. You have the wrong sort of bank account. You need to request a transfer to a student bank account. This happened to me in my first year at uni and I couldn't understand it. Then one day I realised it was because my account wasn't a student one. It should say on your statements 'Student Account' (or whatever they are called these days). Those accounts do not require money to go into them once a month. But they do require proof of you being a student and having some kind of student loan. I've not read any of your other threads so I'm not totally aware of your situation.

as far as I know it is a student account... I've been here almost 3 years now and never had this problem...
but my bank is awkward... they phoned me the day after my loan went in and basically said "Is that it?"
seriously thinking of changing banks...

Check it anyway, they could have changed it by accident. I had a further ed account before going to uni but it changed automatically to a standard one and caused all kinds of problems.
Hm You'd have thought they would have realised that student loans aren't exactly huge. I mean you can't be the only student there surely?! I'm assuming you are with some high street bank like Barclays or someone like that.

*grrs at banks too*
I think it's because I was at my overdraft limit before my loan went in... that and if they look at my account history they'll know that my loan is all I get...
meh, going in tomorrow to speak to them properly

So? That doesn't excuse it. I mean you are a student. What do they expect? I mean I didn't know anyone who wasn't in the same situation in their third year and I assume they still give less money in the third year so they really cannot be excused *thinks their brain cells are glued together with stupid glue*
Good luck hun. Maybe they can come up with something - definitely see the student advisor don't be put off onto someone else and don't forget to remind them that as a graduate you will be being paid a lot of money (hopefully!) and you would like to keep your account with them, however, if they continue causing problems then you will have no choice but to seek an account elsewhere... hit em where it hurts!!!!
