Triggering (SI/Sexual Abuse) - Am I a complete weirdo?
hey,
I was just wondering if anybody else feels like this. I have such a problem with my period. The thing is, he made me bleed when he did it, and now when I bleed it triggers me so badly. At the moment I am on my period and this will be the 3rd night that its 4am and I am yet to sleep and have harmed again, Am i completly strange, or do other girls find this 2?
sorry if any guys read this x x x
I had issues with this quite a bit. My abuse happened before I had started my period, and for my first periods, I took it as an omen that it was going to happen again and had some really bad flashbacks.
With me, it wore off over time, and I hope it works that way with you too.
I'm so sorry you're going through this right now.
I don't have the experience of the situation you're currently going through as I don't have the same kind of association with periods and bad activites... as mine had been there for a while before.
I hope soon that this will stop happening to you soon
I will be around if you ever need to talk..
thank u both for ur kind words :) im hopin i can discuss this with my therapist. shes back in a week X X X

yeh i get this as well, i started SH when i got my period for the first time, and now i dont harm often but if i do its normally just after my period starts each month.
hope you get better honey, have a chat with your therapist if she's back by now,
Hi hun,
Have you considered going on the pill? that way you're the one in controll of your periods, and if you're feeling a bit rocky one month you don't have to cope with them on top of it all. just a sugestion, i don't know how much use that would be to you?
hugs

I like koolaids suggestion... that's sort of what I did... though my issue wasn't exactly the same as yours, basically anything in that area of the body would trigger me (I still can't say the names of "down there" or even type them now, which is a pain at times as I am studying a medically related degree...) so periods were not a great thing to deal with... but as koolaid says if you're on the pill you can sort of miss your period one month if you're not feeling up to coping with it. however, don't be tempted to miss every one as this can be very bad for you...
also it is possible that this will fade in time... with time you'll probably start to stop associating them with what happened...
I really hope your therapist can help you in some way with this
