I have to agree with Griddlebone. The cost was only a couple of dollars for each of us who decided to participate - the cost of a cup of coffee. I thought what they did was incredible - they wanted to make people's Christmas a little brighter and happier. They accomplished this. I was impressed with what they did.
It astonishes me that people are upset that they didn't get what they wanted. Reading a few of the comments on this thread have been a bit of a downer for me. It is a grab bag folks! You don't put in an order for something specific, it is a surprise. They don't know if your favourite colour is pink, green, blue or yellow. They don't know how old you are or your likes and dislikes. They can't keep track of the musical preferences of two hundred people.
Nor should they be expected to. They did, however, take gender and type of gift (serious or funny) into consideration. They packed up a few things for each of us. They did an INCREDIBLE job with what they had to work with, and I am very proud of them. And they should be very proud of themselves.
Their actions got me out of my own doldrums - just knowing that people actually care. It is not the gift, it is the thought behind it.
They didn't do it for profit or monetary gain. They did it because they anticipated the excitement and smiles on the faces of the recipients.
Harley and Tony are a real live Santa Clauses - and I haven't believed in Santa for forty years. It takes time and effort to address and pack two hundred envelopes. It takes thought and consideration to hand write Christmas Cards for that many people. I hate to think how they are going to feel when they log in and read this thread.
I give two big thumbs up to Harley and Tony, and I encourage you to do the same!
