I have pretty bad scars, some of them are from getting stitches. my left arm is covered and the right is catching up awful quickly...so you are definitely not alone with having terrible scars...

I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. ~ Girl Interrupted

I hurt myself before others get the chance...
I hurt myself because others hurt me and I can't stand the pain...
To tell the truth, I'm afraid of recovery because it means I have to let go...

I think on a website such as this there are going to be a LOT of people with scars of varying intensities but then the depth/ 'badness' (forgive my lack of language) of a scar/ cut/ the requirement for medical attention doesn't mean that people are going through more or less pain than anyone.

You said that you look upon yours as 'deep thoughts'. Is there a way that you could express these without hurting yourself? Such as writing them down in a journal or talking to someone? Or anything that works for you really. Do you have a proffesional person who could support you with this?

As I know you haven't asked for help or alternative ways to cope without SH but you said you hate the scars and this suggests to me that at least a little part of you wishes to disengage with this behaviour.

And you haven't said or asked but perhaps look into scar treatments or start using a scar reducer if they bother you. I personally have scars and have learnt that they bring nothing but difficulties and regrets, this may not be the case for you but I urge you to think about it. And sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick or something.

Take care <3

I could be completely wrong but looking to pm others purely on the basis of 'bad scars' sounds dangerously close to just a step away from wanting to share pictures of them and stuff which isn't allowed on here...

Not saying that's what you wanted, just saying how it could be interpreted.

i have to agree that this doesn't feel like the healthiest of threads...

basically I'd like to echo what chinahorse said

I have bad scarring but to me, it isn't about the scarring or anyone elses scarring. It is people's pain that is important. xx

i feel the same i think that this thread might be a bad idea as people may get competitive also and think that they aren't doing enough.

which is completely wrong as no one deserves it never mind thinking that they need to do more

just my opinion catherine x

I'm not really sure what you are asking.

Yes, I have bad scars where I was stitched. But so what?

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Why are you looking for people to PM you if they have bad scars?

I think the mods need to step up and close this thread. They seem to have the ability to point out to me every mistake I make and fast - my last ticking off so to speak was starting a thread in the wrong forum by mistake and that was today, yet this thread is allowed to continue.
