head hitting fears

When I feel frustrated and/or engulfed in a brain fog and I can't think or express myself, I can hit my head, when things are very extreme.

I did this this morning. It really hurt for a while.

I'm worried I'll have given myself brain damage. Yet, paradoxically it's the not being able to think clearly that is causing me to 'knock some sense into myself' in the first place. [Past bully introjects really acting up.]

Anyone relate?
Any thoughts?
Any alternatives for when my head won't think?

Thanks.

ye... done a fair bit of banging head on things before just to try to either make brain work (non-sensical I know) or get the chatter to shut up...

Not really got any suggestions I'm afraid...

Not being able to think clearly when you are worked up about something is normal.

For me it helps to splash cold water on my face. You could try breathing exercises or rescue remedy.

I've hit my head a time or two as well when I was overwhelmed. You're not alone.

Take care. *hugs*

Thanks for understanding, and the ideas. Also the hugs, they are so appreciated right now. :)

It makes so much sense and yet at the time no sense that bashing my head would make my mind/brain work, think more clearly.. But then bashing a computer keyboard never speeded up my old dial up internet! Howsoever, I think it's more on the lines of venting rage and frustration and pain, and when that's out, thinking can be clearer again... Sad that it would be directing that rage physically onto self...

I took a dose of Arnica last night, and that helped the pain and soreness, maybe.
Feeling tearful today.

Keep any alternatives to such self harm coming, please, if you have any.

Try when you feel that way, instead of harming yourself, doing something nice for yourself. Something that will be calming and pleasant. It'll make ya feel special n give your mind a chance to take a break. You could take a walk or a bike ride n just take in the way the breeze feels on your skin, just sit n watch the birds n the way the sun shines through the trees, read a chapter of a book that takes you somewhere else, drink somethin yummy, take a bubble bath, call an old friend n talk about fun memories that make you laugh. I'm sure you can think of somethin that I didn't even know you enjoy. Puzzles or painting or modeling clay. Let me know what you come up with. Maybe I can use it too.

I can totally understand where you're coming from.
It must be horrible not to be able to think straight.
What about listening to some calming music - theres loads on youtube.
Maybe it could help just lying down listening to it when you can't think, just to rest for a few minutes & then see if it makes things a little more clear for you. <3

I hit my head too... though like you, I'm also nervous about it... It does hurt and I mean... it would be hard to explain why I did it if I seriously hurt myself

Feel free to message me ^_^

It can be worrying on so many levels, can't it? My head hurt again last night. I took some more Arnica and it's ok this morning. Just, I couldn't even bring myself to tell my GP about it yesterday.
