The Supporters and The Community Team have been in discussion about how we can try and increase the reply counts accross our boards.
As you can see from the title we've come up with a weekly campaign for which your support is vital:
1 day - Sunday
2 Forums - try and give your best replies in 2 different Forums for the month of May these will be Mental Health Discussion along with Grief and Trauma
3 replies - try and reply to three threads!
4 smiles - you will have made 3 people smile and yourself is 4!!
This may not sound like very much, but if thousdands of people replied to 3 threads, it would make a very obvious difference.
We don't want you to do more then you can - but hoepfully we can keep this thread bumped every week and remind ourselves of the support community we can be... the support community that we are and help our friends and strangers!
We've also included some tips for how to reply to difficult posts below. They won't be for everyone, but they might just give you the confidence to start replying:
The following content has been hidden - Reason : Tips for replying
Read through the post properly.
This helps you understand the situation from the members point of view.
Get an understanding of what the member is asking or wanting.
Acknowledging their situation/feelings.
Even if you don't agree with what they may be feeling, it doesn't take away from the fact that they *are* feeling it.
Main point(s)/problem(s).
Try not to assume what their main problem is unless it is obvious. If in doubt ask them what it is.
Questions are a great way of really understanding, but too many can sound like the Spanish Inquisition.
Use links on the main site.
Links are always something to consider. It gives your fellow member as much information to read that might help, at their leisure.
Remember that it's always being updated, so check for new resources.
Community -> Getting Support -> Forums has extra reading as well for those looking for extra support.
Make long posts more managable.
Break the post down into different section e.g. paragraph at a time. That way if it is a long post it doesn't seem unmanagable and you can respond to more of the points that have been raised.
Take care,
Chloe, The Supporters and the Community Team.
p.s I realise I'm posting on Friday, but that is to make people aware before it reaches Sunday.

We don't get given patience but the opportunity to be patient.
Courage isn't handed to us, but we are given opportunities to be courageous.
I love this, could we maybe even put something like "1 day, 2 forums, 3 replies, 4 smiles' in our signitures? Maybe pretty banners if we wanted? Sorry if that's me being too over the top.
I think a banner in the sigs would be lovely - if someone want to design one, I'd definately have one Abigail!
Every day would be great - but we're taking it slow to begin with so that people don't do too much and look after themselves as well, which is very important.
As for spamming - spam here when you've done it.... but yes, thoughtful replies. Would be great to have lots of people post here when they've managed to do it =)
