RYL Version 3 Launch - Sunday 3rd June, 7pm BST (GMT+1)

Dear RYL Members,

This is a formal announcement to confirm that RYL v3 will launch publicly to all members this coming Sunday at 7pm UK time. Please note that here in the UK we are currently observing British Summer Time (BST) – this is equivalent to current GMT + one hour. I anticipate no more than 5 minutes of downtime at most while the new website is brought online.

No web address changes are occurring - the new version of RYL will become available at approximately 7pm on our usual web addresses:

http://www.recoveryourlife.net

Please remember that if you have specific pages bookmarked on the old version of RYL, these will cease to work after the new site goes live. We will be providing a redirect for our old forum main page, but if you find you receive any page not found errors on the new site whilst following your old bookmarks/favourites, please go back to http://www.recoveryourlife.com and look for the equivalent content on the new site.

Harley, myself, and the vast majority of the RYL moderators and staff will be on hand to assist members with the transition to the new site. As mentioned previously by Harley, please don’t forget that you will need to reregister on the new site. We expect to process a huge number of registrations in the first few days after the new site launches so please be patient while waiting for registration emails to be sent by our systems. If you don’t receive your registration email, don’t forget to check your spam folder!

The old version of RYL will be taken offline altogether for up to half an hour after the new version of RYL goes live to the public. Harley will be modifying the old site so it becomes read-only – this means that when RYL v2 is made available again, it will not be modifiable in any way. It is intended to be used by staff and members for reference only, and only while people find their feet on the new site. At around 7:30pm BST, when the old version of RYL is reopened, it will move to the following web address:

http://v2.recoveryourlife.com

The new version of RYL is much, much faster than the old version it replaces. Please be patient however during the first few weeks while I tune the new site for best performance under load. You may find that the new site is slower at certain times, this is to be expected while the new database settles down and particularly also given the huge amount of activity we are expecting to see on the new site initially.

Finally, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate Harley and all of the staff for the tremendous effort they have all put in on v3 of RYL. Harley particularly I know has devoted literally thousands of hours to development of the new site – without him, there would be no RYL. All of the staff have also worked tirelessly providing invaluable feedback and suggestions for v3 – we should all be justifiably proud, Harley particularly, of what will now be the basis of a very special RYL for many years to come.
