It's actually phenomenal, and the world would be a much better place if there were more children who are that in tune with Christ's purpose for their lives.
So honestly, I don't see anything the least bit creepy about it...
Anything I could say to that would be removed for flaming.

Bible humping nuts is what I'd call the folk on that video.

Hey guys,

can we keep this calm please, obviously everyone has different beliefs with regards to the program but that doesnt give anyone the right to flame another member because of their differing opinion to your own. we've had 2 pages of civil discussion without anyone being offended and it would be nice to keep it that way.

Wrong in your opinion, yes. I think the problem isn't so much what he's being taught but the way in which it's done. You may not agree with what these people believe, and that's fine, no-one's asking you to. But they have every right to believe it and every right to teach their children about their beliefs and why they think these things. That really isn't the issue at all. Surely the real problem is the way that it's being taught to the kids, and the fact that they're being exploited and such. I agree with you that ideally, they would be taught to question their beliefs and eventually be able to make their own decisions. But this sort of behaviour would be wrong from parents of any belief system, including whatever it is that you believe to be right. It isn't a shame that his potential is being channelled into something 'wrong', it's a shame that he's being treated in such a way at all.

But yes, I do think that the way these kids were being treated was wrong, watching this made me so sad. It's also sad that so many people think this is what Christianity is about, because it isn't.

I can't help but wonder, though, if people would be quite so outraged if it wasn't Christianity - or religion in general - that these children were having drummed into them.

Any kind of brainwashing stuff would outrage me, not just the brainwashing that religion, in some cases, carries out.

These children have been brainwashed. Baby bible bashers was a pretty awesome alliteration though.

Hm, you never see anyone but Evangelists doing these things... People complain about Catholics but I'd say if we've done anything right it's keep our children mostly normal ( ) Ever seen Jesus camp? These people are speaking in tongues... It's nuts and it gives me the heebie jeebies.

Holy crap. I've just watched it.

Erm. I just. Yes. I have absolutely NOTHING against parents sharing their beliefs, my parents did it, then let me make my own decisions. What bothers me though, is that they all seem to be using their kids for their own gain/to 'repent' what they may have done.

I may be off the mark here, feel free to shoot me down, but did anyone else feel that Anna's dad seemed to scream 'CHILD ABUSER'. I know how HORRID that is. But, what he was saying, HOW he talked about his daughter and the whole bed sharing....Her thinking the sun shines out of his arse. His unwillingness to talk about charges? Sorry if that's like, out of line, but I sort of got that feeling.

I feel so sorry for Samuel, he HAS been brainwashed, I know it's what his father believes, but having a child so terrified of going to hell and being hurt, that's not right. Not in any stretch of the imagination.

At one point the little boy went on about how evolution is false - that much at least is just plain factually incorrect, and not a matter of opinion.

Amy, yes I got that impression too. Buuut, I could just be jumping to conclusions. Hm. Either way, it's all wrong.

Emily, I get the picture you weren't just talking about evolution. And to be fair, people are still perfectly within their rights not to believe in evolution, there are even some scientists who don't. I may not agree, but they can believe it if they like. I still stand by what I said - the issue isn't what they believe at all :)

No, I wasn't just talking about evolution, I was just pointing out that at least some of it wasn't a matter of opinion. And as for the "scientists" who don't believe in evolution, I already addressed that in a thread in News and Debate.

Yes, and I was just pointing out that people can believe whatever they like, that isn't the problem - because you seemed to be saying that it was.

After having followed this rather odd thread, I think I'll go off and watch it on You Tube now - good grief, it may be rather disturbing.

My bet is that someone's going to mention the "out of the mouths of babes" scripture, probably not far in. There are some evangelical Christians who take children preaching as one of the signs of the coming of the Rapture. I shall, of course, not flame them in such a public forum.
