Hello chat users,
We have been with our brand new chat for around 4 months now and I think we can all agree that it is much more pleasant and easy to use than the previous chat. As you all know, the
rules of the forums also apply within the chat rooms, and whereas in the forum there are post reports, to report any rule breaking that you may see, there is not such an easy way of reporting rule breaking that could occur in chat. If you see rule breaking in chat, it is firstly important to try and contact a chat moderator who is currently online asking them to come into chat, however there are times when a moderator is not available... this is where we need your help.
Without evidence it is extremely difficult to prosecute a member by only the mouth of another member, this therefore stresses the importance of evidence in the form of a chat log. Chat logs of bad behaviour can be obtained by pressing the button indicated by the arrow:
This log will be everything in main chat and your whispers (not private messages in tabs) from the moment you log in. If you log out, the chat log is unfortunately lost.
- A save box will appear allowing you to save the chat log somewhere in your documents (I would recommend renaming the document to something you will recognise).
- You will be able to open the log with your internet brouser.
- A simple copy and paste of the section of chat that you are reporting can be pasted either in a PM to a chat moderator or into an email to chatmods@recoveryourlife.com where the next available chat mod can pick up the email and deal with it accordingly.
Of course, if you are feeling particularly helpful, making important text within the chat log either
bold or a
different colour will help the mods to deal with the report quicker for you. Don't forget that if you do not wish mods to see whispers from your log that you can delete them before the log is sent. Although seemingly helpful, time-wise it may seem to only post the parts of the log where the rule breaking occurs, it is also important for the moderators to take into consideration the reaction and involvement of other members, especially in a conflict. So preserving the context in which the rule breaking is important to give the mods a clearer idea of the whole event.
We hope this helps with any chat log confusion and look forward to recieving logs of any behaviour you see fit to report. If you have any further quesitons please do not hesitate to contact us at
chatmods@recoveryourlife.com. Thanks,
