Triggering (SI) - cut a nerve?

this may sound really daft, but is it possible to cut a nerve? i do cut they are slightly gaping but i dont know if that deep enough to cut a nerve. When i grip things with that hand it shakes violently, and i only cut the left side of my body. do u think thats wot it is or am i being daft? lol

Theres no one here to talk to and the pain inside is making me numb.

You might want to get this moved to the first aid thread, might have more advice there...
If you're concerned you should get it checked out, especially if they are gaping.
Please take care *hugs* xxx

definitly get it checked out. It could be nothing, but that's something you want to be sure about :)

Hope everything goes okay <3

From having surgery that cut through nerves the area will have no feeling or a tingling sensation (like bumping your "funy bone") when touched until the nerves grow back/together, if ever. The trembling and no grip may be from general weakness caused by the deep cuts.

In either case I would get it checked out.

If you damage a nerve you tend to have loss of sensation, 'pins and needles', sharp pains that feel like electric shocks and loss of motion/poor co-ordination. If it's long term you tend to have a loss of your muscles too as you don't use them as much.

It is perfectly possible to cut a nerve and some fibres (though mainly the sensation ones) are very close to the skin, and within it.

Do you get pain down your arm/around where you cut? If you've ever got really bad pain from a deep cut and your arm has felt like its cramping/ aching for quite a while (I'm talking weeks) it could be you've damaged muscles/tendon tissue in which case the effort of movement, especially fine co-ordination as you use your hand may cause trembling but I think you'd know if you did that much damage and I've damaged some of the muscles in my fore-arm (I got on the wrong side of a horse... literally!) and I've got very minimal problems.

To be honest, when I first saw your post I wondered more about whether you've started any medication recently. It could affect the left side more if this is already weaker for some reason (say if you are right handed there is a slight natural weakness in your left side (or increased strength in your right side is probably a more accurate explanation way to look at it)) and therefore these problems may appear more on one side than the other. Hope that helps.
