The Clean House Motivation Thread!

This is a place to share cleaning tips, motivational pictures, quotes and advice to encourage ourselves to have a clean and tidy house.

It's good for mental health to have a tidy space so let's encourage each other!

I like this thread, I have completely given up with house work recently and no idea where to start!

I have been trying to keep the rooms I spend most time in tidier but there still seems to be clutter everywhere.

I have been trying to keep the mentality that doing *something* however small is better than doing *nothing*

For sure. Anything is good.

And you break it down by task in each room. Then do one task per day. Then aim to keep on top of said task so you don't have the situation where it's dirty again by the time you've done anything else.

Little each day and keeping on top of stuff is better than doing major cleans every month which takes ages and means you live in ever growing clutter!

Imperfection is underrated.

Helps to have a good bluetooth speaker to carry some tunes around as you work. I don't listen to music often but when cleaning it makes things go a little faster. The Cure, Morrissey, The Killers, Coldplay, The Church, Radiohead, Decembrists etc. A hand vacuum is also key

How bloody posh are you!!! I can barely afford a dust pan and brush :P

Seriously though when washing dishes if I didn't have a set of scouring pads as well as cloths I think I'd die :P

Lol - its the computer forums. Everyone in a computer forum is a power shopper that knows how to find deals - and they post them. You can find a decent Bluetooth speaker for 7-10 quid (normally 20).

There is an app you can download on your phone - unf*ck your habitat.

When you open it up you can choose rando challenges, or you can set a list if you have specific things needing done, or you can choose by room... loads of different options..

but my favourite bit is a button that says 'Random Unf*cking Motivation' and you press it and get messages like this one:

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE. SO ARE EXCUSES.
with two options below it to dismiss it - Stop yelling at me, or I'm Motivated

It is quite possibly the best app I have on my phone

More than a little fruity...

I've just written myself a to do list for a week giving myself attainable tasks to do each day. I want to make my flat lovely.
