This is the problem a lot of people have with self harm. For some reason, to get the same effect and reduction in distress, people often feel they have to self harm more severely over time. This can cause huge, huge problems - I have known people who have ended up very seriously injured or close to death as a result of this.
I'm glad that talking helps a bit. Depression and difficult feelings are horrible, but can often be helped by talking to trusted people, taking prescribed medication, getting good exercise and good nutrition, spending time with friends, being creative etc. Keep fighting.
