Migraines.

Has anyone here suffered from migraines before, but then they went away completely?

If so, how long did it take for a complete resolution of migraines?

Also, what type of migraines did you get?

What meds did you take for them? I can't take the triptans due to interactions, and I'm a haemophiliac so I can't take aspirin, ibuprofen, or any other NSAIDs. I have two different types of anti-emetics.

Did anyone try any dietary modifications? If so, what did you do?

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

My migraines havn't gone away completely but are much less frequent now.

I tend to get them in work more than anywhere else? Bright lights, no air con, stress etc all being huge factors for me. They got better when I improved my diet, less sugar, less salt, more fresh food and water instead if fruit juice or fizzy drinks.

I've not found a medication that works for me, so unfortunately if I can't stop the migraine from progressing past the "intense pain behind the eye and across the forehead" stage that I'm going to end up in a dark room throwing up until someone can take me home so I can sleep. By that stage movement, smells, sounds, bright lights etc all make it worse. All in all it can last anywhere from 3/4 hours to 2 days =[

I've heard that if you cut tomatoes out of your diet completely, it helps. At least it worked for a family friend.
Also dairy can trigger them and citrus fruit I believe.

MSG, and aspartame cause migraines for me.. Try talking to your dr about a preventive medicine such as topamax.

I've tried topiramate (Topamax) and it gave me depression and cognitive dysfunction at 75mg. I'm on propranolol for it now but only just got the dose increased today. It's being increased very slowly as I have mild bradycardia and mild hypotension.

I'm now vegan so now I don't eat dairy. Anyway cows' milk makes me want to puke.

I will try cutting out tomatoes and citrus fruits from my diet when my tomato plants die.

I used to get migraines and refused to be fobbed off with medication to prevent something that they hadn't checked out in the first place. I'm glad I insisted as now I rarely get them as they found the cause.

I suffered so badly from migraines that i'd spend up to 4 days in bed with them. I'm now on a migraine preventer medication after having a brain scan and only get about one a month now.

I've got chronic migraine, which hasn't gone away, but I have it almost under control with a TCA (amitriptyline). I was on a beta-blocker before, which also controlled it. If your prophylactics aren't working as well as they should ideally, perhaps talk to your doctor about trying a different one. Sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error before you find one that actually works. But if you've only had your propranolol increased recently, give it some time, it might work for you.

About migraines self-resolving, from what I've read, it can really go either way: sometimes it gets better throughout your lifetime, sometimes it gets worse, sometimes it stays the same. It seems like there's no way to know.
