It's that time again when the eZine are looking for your nominations as to who should be June's Member of the Month!
All you have to do is send me a PM with the person you would like to nominate and your reasons why. It will of course be kept anonymous.
Last month, the lovely Jenna (Narcissa) won Member of the Month so in the interest of fairness and to give others a chance we won't be able to accept Jenna as this months nomination.
Would love to hear from you all, last time was incredibly tight with a three way tie at one point so get your votes in. Every vote helps

If you think it's a popularity contest then why don't you vote for the person you think should be member of the month? If more people voted then it wouldn't just be the same people over and over, do you see what I mean?
We gave members plenty of opportunity to vote last time as we were stuck with a three way tie and yet very few members put a vote forward.

As Emma said, it really doesn't have to be a popularity contest, in fact I would really love to see somebody completely unexpected to the norm. The only way we can achieve this though is by people voting. So please do vote!

Because it seems like a popularity contest that is why, and me voting wont change that.
Perhaps if people nominated someone and gave a reason as to why they were nominated, and then they were shortlisted with a poll and the reasons why these people have been nominated, then I might bother.

This doesn't seem like the right website to do this on, at all. Why should it matter who is the most popular? We are a community. We are always boasting that this website doesn't fuel competition among its members? This is directly fueling it. Can't imagine you can't see that. It's all very very insensitive and I know you're going to argue it to death. But I don't think stuff like this has any place on RYL.

and I don't see how this is a good thing to do on a site where the majority have issues about themselves, to then point out they are not as good as other members, seems kinda like salt in the wound for people who come here to feel accepted.

I suppose the criteria are what matter. Maybe "Member of the Month" is just a way to go in depth on a member - as a biographical profile kind of thingy. A Member of the Month doesn't have to equate with "Suck-up Twinkie of the Month"
Okay, I understand what you're saying. Perhaps people can have a think about the types of things they would like to see in the eZine.
We have given people opportunities to give feedback and ideas but we don't get much in terms of contributions about what members would like to have in the eZine.
It's disheartening for us when our ideas seem to be shot down without anything to take their place.

Well, maybe each month a few random members are picked and asked certain questions so you can get to know them. Each month you can ask the same questions yet to another set of members, so people get know the community.
To select the members just ask for a list of volunteers, and then go ip dip do, or pick names out of a hat or something.
