I am currently:
Attention - Sharing addresses on ryl

Hi all!

I just want to clarify RYL's current stance on sharing addresses.

We can't stop members sharing addresses privately but we do issue caution to only share with those you know ie I have shared my address and received members addresses however at this point I knew the members well and considered them friends.

We cannot however allow members on the public boards to take part in initiatives like pen pals/ secret santas etc this is due to the fact that members could be anyone and if we allowed them we wouldn't be able to restrict access to well known members only and this thus increases the potential risk.

I am making this post as in recent weeks moderators have removed several threads on these lines and it is a discussion that occurs from time to time.

Cam's saying that we cannot initiate a penpal scheme or similar that only involves more well-known members - as it isn't possible to do technically I'd imagine
