I reached out to touch you
Didn't you see?
Or was your vision clouded
By someone other than me?

I thought I could fix you
If you gave me a chance
But my path was blocked
By the arm of circumstance

I thought if I could be quicker
Or if you could just wait
But I was much too little
And a little too late

So you went on without me
And we slowly fell apart
Then I turned and saw you touching
Someone else's eager heart

And I told you my feelings
As if you might care
But when I looked into your heart
I didn't see myself there

And you said "there'll be others"
And I closed my eyes
But a life without you
Is just too hard to visualize

And maybe I was just too late
