Living on my own for the first time
I've recently been accepted into an internship for this summer, so I'll be moving to California to live there for 10 weeks for the course of the internship. It's also my first time to live on my own. Even though I'm in uni, I live close enough to my school that I still live at home and just drive back and forth to school. So really, I'm kind of scared. Granted, I won't be totally alone - I'll have a roommate and will be sharing my "dorm" of sorts with 12 other girls - but I'm going to have to be 100% responsible for myself!
I was just wondering if others could share their experiences with moving out of their homes for the first time? I need some encouragement that I'm not going to completely screw myself over. >.<

Duct tape is like The Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

Congrats on the internship! :)
Living on your own/moving out for the first time isn't all that bad really, just take it one day at a time, and if ou have a room mate, you'll not have to worry about doing EVERYTHING on your own anyway.
It's a new experience, embrace it :)

Is there any practical things that you'd like advice about?
I think you will adapt to the change and be fine

Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?

The first time I moved out, I changed countries and found myself in an internship... I did not know anyone, or anything about the professional world.
It was the BEST experience of my life and it had a huge impact on me.
Don't hesitate to ask questions to your internship coordinator/mentor. If you can, get in touch in advance and ask if there are other interns. Get in touch with the other girls, it'll be easier to meet them for real if you've already gotten to know each other by email.
If you have an anxious nature, don't forget to take little things that will make you feel comfortable and "at home", charms etc... and plan a little treat for when you get back from the internship. That'll help you handle stressful times by thinking about the nice gift you're getting yourself for going out in the world.
Enjoy!!!
