hospital stay and benifits help

After how many weeks as inpaitent does housing benifit stop?
I thought it was 12 weeks, but i was only in for 8 weeks and it looks like my housing benifits have been stopped for at least a month now... As im in arrears with my rent.

I'm not sure what it is now, sorry. Last time I was in for 5/6 weeks and it wasn't stopped, but the time before was about 7 weeks and benefit was affected. Not so long ago it used to be you could be in for 12months and benefits wouldn't be affected.

Pretty sure that when mine got stopped some eventually got back-dated though?

Thanks for the reply... I'm hoping to get it sorted by Friday. If i can ever find the letter that i had off the housing benifit people with their number on it. :(

I thought Housing Benefit stopped when your other benefits stopped? That's what happened to me anyway, it's worth going to the council or ringing them and checking if you're not sure though :)

in northern ireland they do stop after 8weeks for here/

I was told by my social worker it is a year, that's in the UK.

I found out its 3 months. I've sorted it all out now. Thanks for the replies.
