Requalifying.

Well, I've been considering switching jobs now for at least the last year, with no real luck. The problem is, I'm essentially stuck at where I am at the moment, due to previous qualifications. Any other job needs either new qualifications I can't access, or qualifying in courses I can't find.

Example being, having decent computer & typing skills. My school grades were terrible because I switched courses half way and therefore completed a two year course with only one years work, thus earning me a much reduced grade which clearly doesn't reflect my abilities on the computer! Yet, I have no idea how to get a course that would give a much better reflection of my abilty.

Another issue, is the highlighted preference of being able to speak another language, which I don't have.

I'm now beginning to get bombarded over my 'ambition' - something I don't have. As long as I can pay the rent, I really don't care how much I earn.
Eugh.

So I guess the ideal thing would be to look for a job that will provide you with further training - but I appreciate that's probably not easy to find at the moment.
Is there any chance of you going back to school or doing a distance learning course in your free time? I know learning a language takes a helluva long time so maybe focus on the computer stuff. What kind of thing do you want to do? Could you maybe find a similar job to the one you've got now but with more chances for promotion n stuff?
Whatever you do, good luck.

Thanks for replying, but it's more of that I don't know if there are any courses that simply do IT for boosting my qualifications, or which one to take.

It's all very confusing and every course under the sun now costs £££

What about checking out your local adult education college

what was the course you did before - if it isn't essential can you leave it off your cv and instead put excellent computer skills and mention it in your covering letter

Well, I can't do the course again; but colleges do have courses - too many of them for me to choose the right one!

I think most FE colleges will have some kind of advisor who can help you choose a course.
Or maybe go back to the place you did your initial qualification and see if there's anyone there who can advise you.

There is normally someone who can help to advise you about which course is best suited for you and will help you progress so take a look at local adult colleges and ask to speak to someone!
It doesnt hurt to try :)
also I agree that you could leave the previous training off your cv and explain the circumstances in the covering letter!
good luck!

Right, so blindly walking in and asking for an advisor is the way to go?
Ugh.

Going back to my original college/school? Hate the place. Can't stand to go near it, despite being some country roads around the place perfecting for cycling. Ugh. No, no, not going back there. Ever.
Sorry, but, no.

To be fair ,you have put down everyones suggestions .It looks to me like ur making excuses .How do you mean too many choices ?Thats crazy Theres always something a person will want to do more than somethng else .

It became like a sort of prison. Encased in a silver shell, words so full of bleeding need spilled like drops on dry leaves. And all the while laughter prevailed a long way from here. Nowhere land, nowhere time, nowhere space.

Uh... yeah. It's their job. 'Hi, I'm thinking of doing an xyz course, I was wondering if there was anyone I could talk to about which course is best for me.'
Easy.
If you want it to be less blind, have a look at ther prospectus beforehand so you've some idea of what you're asking about.

Not everyone is the kind of person to simply walk into somewhere new and start talking to strangers, reallifetime.
Have you looked at an college prospectus?
Firstly, there's what type of course I want. Then standard level of choice. Then there's 10 options. 10. Courses range from ECDL (WTF?) to Clait (WTF?) and CISCO sponsored courses. How am I supposed to know which is the most suitable?
Obviously, an advisor would be helpful, but I'm not the kind of person who asks anybody off the street to decide my future.

Now, since this a support-orientated site, I'd assume that the users on here actually want to help, rather than just sell the most expensive course available which is completely not what I need.

I don't know where you live/what background you have etc. but also I haven't really got an idea about IT courses.

Instead of walking into the college why not ring them up and make an appt. the advisor should explain ECDL and Clait and so on and then you can make the decision. If none seem right then the advisor may be able to point you in another direction.

You don't have to go back to your old college there are plenty to choice from.
Why don't you have a look online at a college near you and you can see what course suits you.
