Is it still under warranty? (It should be if it's brand new) - if so, send it back to Apple to sort it.

Otherwise, try leaving it to dry on the radiator for a couple of days. Not saying it'd work (that's a lot of water to be submerged in!), but it may help?

Take it back to where you got it from. If it was HMV then go back to them.
Was it covered for accidental damage?
Some warranty's only cover for theft, read your policy.
HMV are usually quite good though for things like that, they don't tend to like complaints or refunds.
They may even give you a new one.

Is the warranty with Apple or HMV? It should say on the warranty information. Whichever of those it says it is, take it back there :)

If it's Apple, they're normally really amazing with their warranties; I broke my mac by accidentally throwing it off the bed, I took it in to them and not only did they fix the disc drive, they also changed the casing just because it was a little scratched. I was really happy :)

Apple wouldn't give me a warranty on my iPod so I had to get it from Argos. :(

Seriously? That's a bit rubbish. At least you've got warranty though :) Where did you buy it from? I'm fairly sure my iPod came with Apple warranty and I bought it from Boots. Hm.

As I said on your facebook, my brother's ipod went through the washing machine. He left it in a warm place and after two weeks it worked again once it had dried out.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

Rice doesn't work. and a hair dryer is more likely to melt the plastic than anything else.
Put it under a hot light or on the radiator.
If that doesn't work then take advantage of the warranty and get apple to repair it.

Gadget show tested that. Not true. nor is putting it in the fridge.
Putting it under a hot light works though.

Loz, go to a camera shop, or maybe the chemist, and ask them for some silica gel, they might be able to give you it. It's the stuff that you get in little packets when you get new shoes. Shove your ipod in there overnight and it'll dry out, and should work again.

Seriously, I didn't believe it, but when I was travelling I dropped my camera in a river, and it was the one thing that got it working again.

Good luck.
