Triggering (SI) - not getting stitiches/operations

stuff I would usually allow treatment for - I haven't

So I have allowed exposed tendon sheaths and really, really deep cuts to be untreated. As such they are taking 4 weeks to heal. And I'm getting something I never have - huge rased thick white solid lumps growing over the cut area. I thought at first it was fungus, but an arsy plastic surgeon assured me it wasn't, so I left and never went back.

can I make it go away faster? heal quicker? I have to change dressings every day because it completely soaks through every day and I've taken to buying large melolins and cutting them very day to size and sticking down with microporse

wish I would just give it up and slice through the things i cut arouns.

What exactly are you asking support for?

If your wounds are that deep then there is very little you can do to minimise the damage. You can help with the scarring once it has reached the stage but there is no magical solution to the side effects of not getting these wounds treated. Personally I tend to keep dressing them until I have a couple of days when I don't have to see anybody and then I leave them undressed to try and dry up and stop the worst of the bleeding/seeping. The long term pains/numbness/swelling etc don't stop by doing this though.

the onli thing that i can think to reply with is that you need to seek help for wounds this severe
keeping the wound clean and having new dressings each day should help

Hey...try posting this in the First Aid forum. You'd probably get a lot more replies there.

Sorry - I was just asking if there was a way to make it heal faster as it's taking weeks for one to go. And if the wierd white stuff is normal, or if there is a way to make it go away.

A few weeks ago I saw a plastic surgeon who was really horrible and put me off having treatment, plus I can't have 'hospital treatment' on my med records because I'm trying to becoming a social worker.

Stuffed all round.

Thanks

Ok first, DO NOT cut through the tendons. That will result in excruciating pain, and probably long term limited movement if you don't get treatment.

The white stuff could be granulation tissue, which is basically what will help build the scar. As long your wounds don't smell and any fluid is clear then you should be healing ok. Obviously its better to get treatment, and the scars will be a lot worse than if you had had stitches but with large wounds it is just going to take time for them to heal so be patient, keep them clean and check for infections daily.

Could you see a nurse to have it cleaned and bandaged regularly? Or go into a walk in centre and have this done?

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

If you need hospital treatment you may have to get it at some point, regardless of going into social work, becasue sometimes hospital treatment is a repercussion of self-harm, and it's a risk we all take.
Or, at the very least, as control freak said, try a walk-in center.
Your health has to come first, regardless of what career you intend to go into, and if it gets worse or you do irreperable damage because you don't get it checked out, something could go very wrong resulting in hospital treatment whether wanted or not.
