Triggering (SI) - Is It OK when you're triggered to..

put dressings/bandages/band-aids/ect on parts of your body you wish to harm?

Like I'm triggered right now and I've just bandages my whole arm up, even though I haven't done any harming... but because I have a dressing on it makes me feel as if I have harmed and I feel a bit more relaxed.

Is this ok? and does anyone else do it? xo.

I don't do that, but I think that is a good way to keep yourself from harming. As long as you don't hurt yourself than it is a good idea.

I think that it's okay, especially if it keeps you from harming yourself. *HUGS*

But it's not hurting anyone, including yourself. So I don't see anything wrong with it.

Take care,
Amy

If it works it works! There's nothing wrong with it. Can't say as I've heard of anyone else doing that, but that's ok. Glad you found something that helps!

I have tried it before to tie me over an urge !
It doesnt hurt you, and its kind of like "taking care of yourself" so go for it!

This is actually recommended as a tip to keep from self harming and its actually i pretty good one. Another is to draw on yourself in red pen (make sure its not permanent!) and then bandaging it up.

Its not a long term solution to self harm but its definitely a good short term thing.

Glad it really helps you :)

yes i've done this before. I put the bandage on when i feel triggered then if it gets too bad
The following content has been hidden - Reason : possible trigger
i'll cut the bangage instead of myself
. That way i get the realease without actuallly hurting myself.

Take care hun.

I don't use bandages but if I keep the part I want to injure covered it does somewhat help. If it works for you then go ahead and do it! x
