I'm from Ireland, but I live in Germany now. My first language is English and I also speak some German. Like you, I'm better at writing/understanding than I am at actually speaking German.
Born In North London, moved to Berkshire at a very young age and grew up there and consider that as where I am from, now live in Manchester.
English is my only language, sadly, although I studied German upto AS level at school, but as I haven't done it for a while I have forgotten a lot, which I regret.

It's over, I quit.
I'm about as lifeless as it gets
It's not like I'm worth saving anyway.
I don't belong here, I never really wanted to be here.
Why can't somebody else take my place?
I have lived in Denmark my entire life. I of course speak Danish fluently as well as English. I can also read German and speak a little but have forgotten most of it as i never use it in spoken language. I used to be okay at it though. I forgot almost all of the Italian i knew since stopping school. Norwegian and Swedish i can understand and read as well because its very similar to Danish. But i am only fluent in Danish and English.
I have lived in the same city all my life but have traveled a lot since being a child. I like where i live though and dont really have any plans of ever move away from here.

I was born in Scotland, and still live in Scotland. English is my first language but also know a huge amount of Scots "slang". Can read French, but not as well as I used to be able to. Can't speak it that well either.
Reading books, papers etc in foreign languages is easier than conversing in them. I had to take Italian for art history studies. Curiously I was able to read French better than Italian because French has a lot of English cognates (words that look and mean the same in different language) while Italian has a lot of false cognates (an Italian word can look just like an English word and have a different meaning). I've come to think of French as just English with more E's and L's. My Spanish comes from being around immigrants that have swarmed the area. I can hang ok on a construction site. I was taught the potty words first.
i was born in Moscow Russia, first language is Russian , can read and write well in english just not so.good with spoken
Do you still live in Russia? I'm going there soon
I was born in London lived all over the world now back in london

I have lived in Denmark my entire life. I of course speak Danish fluently as well as English.
I presume you speak Danish most of the time then? I find it fascinating that there are people on here who write in perfect English and I think of them as English-speakers but who leave the computer screen and go and conduct their lives in a different language!
I guess that's a standard English person thing; being bilingual is such a curious and impressive concept!
As for me, I'm northern Irish living in England and I speak English, small amounts of German and even smaller amounts of French. I am attempting to learn to greet all of one of my year eight classes in their mother tongues- can do Arabic, Serbian, Polish and Turkish so far :)
