I already do that. Trouble is that my mum will pour the wine on sat and we will have wine with our meal on Sunday. If I refuse to drink then she will hassle me.

So far I haven't had a drink tonight. But until I fall asleep there's always the opportunity so the fact it's quite late means nothing.

Hey, how are you dong today?

Could you maybe tell your mum you have an upset stomach? She might not hassle you then.

Does your mum know that alcohol is something you struggle with? Maybe if she was aware she wouldn't hassle you and would hopefully be supportive in helping you to keep your drinking under control.

I am doing ok. I have managed not to drink for the past two nights, but of course that will change now.

I cant use that excuse because she knows that wont stop me drinking.

I dont really want to tell them because I dont think that they will be very understanding. Also they might lecture me about drinking which will make the situation worse. Also they may lock away all the booze which will make the situation worse (and also they live next door to a pub). Telling someone just to stop is very dangerous if I am addicted because I could suffer alcohol withdrawal effects, which I have been treated for previously. I would rather stop and/or cut down on my own terms.

Thanks Lorraine. I guess that I will eventually get back to just drinking at the weekends, which is what I was doing before. Just that I have to take it one step at a time.

Alright. I haven't had a drink since Sunday which is good. Still having urges to drink but not given in so far. I know that I will drink sat and sun though.

Well done for not having a drink since Sunday!
I hope that you will manage to drink in moderation if you do end up drinking this weekend.

Oh yes I wont do enough to get drunk or what is considered binge drinking.

I am managing apart from one day Mon-Fri not to drink at all. I would have been drink free the whole 5 days if it werent for my mum giving me a glass of wine. But I managed to stop at one glass.

I also managed last week not to drink Mon-Fri except for Thursday. I feel confident that I will manage not to drink Mon-Fri. That's pretty much normal for me, and my cpn says that she's pretty much happy with the amount I am drinking. At one point she mentioned antabuse but she doesnt think it is no longer necessary.

I just realised that today is the sixteenth so here goes.

I managed another month free of SI! That makes it 4 years 4 months. Although I am struggling atm so I doubt I can last another month free.

I am just fighting the urges atm. The main thing is that I am stressed and if the reason why I am stressed goes then the urges will go. I might try colouring as that's helped in the past or the butterfly project.
