Wound Care Question - Weird healing (Trigger)

Earlier this week, I cut a few times on my leg. Most of the wounds have scabbed and healed up, but right next to one of the cuts is a new bulge under my skin. This has never happened before. I have been cleaning the wound and the bulge seems to be getting smaller. Thoughts?

Did you cut at an angle with that one? Sometimes if I've not got my implement at a 90 degree angle it kinda cuts under the skin and can bulge a bit. Dunno if that makes sense.

What sort of size would you say this bulge is?

Hey Midnite, no I didn't cut at an angle. I hadn't thought of that.

Jenna, it is pretty much the size and shape of a mentos mint. A few centimetres in diameter.

Sometimes, if the wound is infected, it could be a collection of pus. Otherwise it could be a hematoma, essentially a large bruise and collection of blood. The body will break this down. But as the bulge is getting smaller this is a good sign. If you get any signs of infection or if it starts getting bigger do get it checked out though (e.g. redness, swelling, pain, heat)

Thanks for the heads up, Epicene. I didn't know that. The bulge has since disappeared, after using antiseptic daily, much to my relief. I really appreciate the responses to my post.

Glad the bulge has gone. Hope the wound heals quickly, and just be on the lookout for signs of infection.
