Like Harley said, the Guide to RYL is great for playing around with and finding new things. :)
OK, well the best thing is I modify RYL so everyone has a little checkbox they can switch off in their control panels, then send a PM out to every member to tell them to switch it off if they don't want it!
Then I can send to only those members with the checkbox checked and everyone is happy :)
There have already been a number of major changes that have gone pretty much unnoticed by the members, and with more to come those who decide to get a PM or two a month can stay up to date on what is changing at RYL, features/functionality wise.
I will then stick all things like updates/minor improvements in the eZine news each month.
The "search new posts" link didn't work for me.
But live forum view is exciting :D Hahah. Easily impressed, me?
Thankyou Chelseeaaa.
"Be nice. Think happy thoughts. Champion silver linings. Love all things (not just cute things like babies and kittens) & when you do love - love like they do in power ballads (you know like on a cliff with the wind in your hair and your eyes shut, knowing you'll never know love like this). Watch out for dog poo. Smile at people - even grumpy ones. Remember anything is possible & whatever you do always try to look on the bright side."
Go to your Quick Links menu item (in the forum menu not the RYL main menu) and Find Today's Posts to find all new posts made today,
Or, as said you can go to the Search item, and the fly out menu gives you other options, like all posts since you last came to RYL, member searching etc :)
Firstly, we now have replaced the 'whats happened to RYL' stuff on the homepage with Community News - which I think everyone will agree is a better use of space now v3 has been out for so long.
Secondly, other RYL based news will be found in each months eZine - the more community based stuff. We will for example be congratulating members who have done well with their recovery, member birthdays, and talk about things like fundraisers in there.
Lastly, I have now added a new option to everyones control panels - inside Edit Options, in your notification settings, to allow you to subscribe and unsubscribe to these PM's
Well it clearly did the job on that PM about the bracelets - we've sold more in the past 24 hours than we normally do in two weeks!
Which pays for another extra months hosting in advance, so I am dead chuffed, and we saved some members some money too!
Don't expect many PM's each month, all the normal stuff will go in the forums, announcements, homepage and eZine - but hopefully those I do send out will come in handy!
Thanks everyone for your input, I think we have made some ground here (I also love the homepage, more improvements coming!)
