I started at midnight & wrote for 90 minutes or so and wrote from a couple of hours when I woke up. Unfortunately, I'm having to hand write this year as I don't have access to a laptop every day >_< though I seem to find that I write much more fluidly on paper.
But my current word count is 2,515. Feeling pretty happy with myself so far. I'm almost finished my first chapter :)
if you counted every word of your hand writing invidually i'll take my hat off to you, that's commitment :P

I'm counting each page as I write it, and adding it up as I'm going along. I'm also leaving a mark every hundred words so I don't have to count past that and get lost!
Last word count was 3964 but I've passed 4000 now. I'm actually shocked, I've struggled for the past couple of years, but I seem to have developed a character that I really love writing this year :) I'm almost finished chapter two, I'm guessing I'll finish around the 4,500 mark tonight :)
I'm not going to get much time to write this weekend, so I'm hoping to reach 7000 by 6pm tomorrow so that I'll still be on schedule on Monday :]

I wrote 2,069 (lol, 69) words last night and thought I'd got a head start. But I've had an insane day at work today and i came home and fell asleep and haven't written anything tonight.
I will have to catch up at the weekend. I really don't want to fail too hard on my first try at this.

I have done 0 words so far, thanks to having to work during my writing time! (I can only write at night as that's when I can concentrate most on things like that, and is the time I won't get interrupted). So I start tomorrow night!

4218 here, i've struggled all day to actually do any writing then wrote around 2,300 words. I got to the 1667 and thought 'i could stop here' but I had too many ideas in my head. I need to get ahead as I am away for the weekend in a couple of weeks time so this is a good start.
Amy, if you need inspiration, why not try looking up something to do with one of your charecters or a theme. Like, say it's set in the 18th centurey, google 18th century boys/girls, or buildings, or countryside, or murders, or whatever is relevant to your book.
if it's the blank page that is putting you off, start with a discription of your main charecter, or a setting in the book, or similar. You can always go back later and delete it or move it to another part of the story.

I adopted an opening line from the adoption society on the NaNo forum and now I have almost 600 words and can see where I'm going now.
The opening line was; When Corey pictured herself, it was always like just an outline in a colouring book with the inside not yet completed. All the standard features were there but the colours, the zigzags, the plaids, the bits and pieces that made up her weren’t yet in place.
I just put in her name. (:

I had yesterday off writing due to spending time with my girlfriend but I'm excited to get to write later in tonight. I'm currently on around 6,800 words, so even with a day off I'm on schedule :) I'm hoping to hit 8,000 tonight :)
