I was reading an article about Taylor Swift in the Telegraph today. It portrays Swift as a person people increasingly love to hate. Now I know this is just a superficial, celebrity type issue but I was curious how Swift registers with a group of people about her age - and who have danced on the margins between conformity and rebellion. Swift seems to be part mainstream pop icon and part pariah.

I agree. People like to have an idol to look up to (musician, athlete etc) but doing so actually puts them in an inferior position psychologically. Soon a secret resentment builds for the person on the pedestal and then when the person falls people enjoy it. Of course the media facilitates both aspects. They will love/hate a person up to fame and acclaim - and then hate them down to the level of brown manure in the ground (sozzers lol)
From what I know (which in't a lot) the hatred seems to be coming from One Direction fans who are upset about her failed relationship with Harry Styles. I could be wrong though. Personally I like her music. That's my only opinion of her really.

She is incredibly hot and could probably have any guy on the planet and she either continues to choose guys that treat her like crap or she STILL hasn't gotten over a break up from when she was in high school or whatever.

Yeah, I agree with you. I don't hate her as a person, but her songs are annoying and all about the same thing.

She's young still, though. Media always blows things out of proportion anyways. So her being a "serial dater" and whatnot... She even said that people saying that she dates a new guy every week is ridiculous and she's only really date two people in the past couple of years or something. She comes across so friendly and is an easy target.
