For a couple of years I have kept a positives jar rather than making resolutions and I've found it a good experience so wanted to suggest it here for anyone who might be interested. Basically you just get a jar (I decorated mine) and throughout the year when you feel something good has happened you write it on a piece of paper, fold it up, and put it in the jar. Then at the end of the year you open the jar and remember all the good things. It can be things like events, something someone has said to you, anything that is positive for you. This year I only had 2 pieces of paper in my jar which may be a bit sad but it was still good to read them. I'll share them here so you maybe can get an idea - one was having a good morning routine (I wrote that one when I had been getting out of bed in the morning for a number of weeks in a row) and one was a joke that someone told me which was a wordplay on a doctor's name and I thought it was really funny.
I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

I do this! I try to remember to write something every day but that never happens. But I do still end up with lots of lovely positive things at the end of the year :)
"I know you're sad, so I won't tell you to have a good day. Instead, I advise you to simply have a day.
Stay alive, feed yourself well, wear comfortable clothes, and don't give up on yourself just yet.
It'll get better. Until then, have a day."
Why don’t we create a thread of positive things we have done each day to keep each other accountable?
Have you ever confused a dream with life? Or stolen something when you have the cash? Have you ever been blue? Or thought your train moving while sitting still? Maybe I was just crazy. Maybe it was the 60's. Or maybe I was just a girl... interrupted.
I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. I tried groups, didn't work out just made my depression a lot worse.
I didn't do it last year, but I've eaten a jar of pickles in preparation for doing it this year :) I'm really glad it was pleasant for you to read about things that you'd put in your jar. They're always nice memories to keep.
Good idea! I give everyone permission to finish a jar of something so they can do this! I hope you have some nice things to look back on at the end of this year.

Ha ha that reminds me of a party I went to in uni where you had to dress as a kids tv programme you liked when you were young and I went as Art attack.
